ASICS Women's GEL-Cumulus 14 Running Shoe Review

Let me start by saying that I am a loyal wearer of ASICS Gel Cumulus shoes. I buy a new pair every time the new model is introduced, as each pair lasts me about a year, and this is probably my 9th pair of Gel Cumulus shoes. This 14 model initially felt very tight and uncomfortable across the toe box. After considerable loosening of the laces (they were pre-laced when I received them) and wearing them around the house for a couple days to break them in, they felt great and very cushiony. I've never had to "break in" these Cumulus shoes before, and I'm not sure why I had to this time. Perhaps they are being constructed with less fabric across the toes? Regardless, they are very comfortable now and I'm glad I purchased them. With this pair I chose the bold color route the "storm" color is a very dark gray, and the "brilliant blue" is a bright royal blue, while the laces are white. They are about as far from a generic white pair of shoes as you can get! They look great with black exercise pants or dark jeans. As always, this pair of Cumulus shoes has a snug fit around the heel, so they feel very secure when you're moving. The sizing (in length, at least) feels true to previous models.

This is my fourth pair of Asics Cumulus Running Shoes. I've always LOVED the fit and comfort of this shoe and so when it came time to purchase a new pair I felt totally comfortable purchasing online....no need to try them on because I know I'm going to love them. Mistake! They changed the entire shoe. Lower profile, much tighter fit and gone is the springy comfy bounce that I felt in my previous Cumulus shoes. They might be okay with an added insert but that's really not an option without going up a size (or two considering how small this shoe runs). I will still wear these for short walks but will look for a new favorite to run in :(

I have worn Cumulus for years and loved them and they have been kind to me...five marathons and all that training. The new lower heel has caused strain on my lower leg muscles which irritates my heel. They are not as wide as they used to be, so after about six miles, my feet feel cramped. I hate to say it but after all these years, I might have to look for a new shoe. Too bad; I loved my Cumulus! I never had to take them off after a run. I love this shoe! The colors are bright and the shoe is very comfortable. I usually wear an 8 1/2, but I order a size up when I purchase running shoes. I purchased these in a 9 and they give me enough room for when I run. This is the first pair of ASICS that I have bought (after much research) and I am very satisfied and happy! As a prior Brooks Adrenaline user (only other running shoes I have ever used), I can say that I have not noticed a difference in the stability and support or the comfort. I can no longer afford to buy Brooks (over $100), so this was a good financial switch as well. After having them for two weeks, I was able to run a 5K without any problems. I am extremely happy with these shoes and I have a feeling that they will become my permanent brand!!

I normally wear a nine in almost every shoe I own. I took the advice of several other raters, and glad I did. Granted, I didn't actually try the nine, but the 9 1/2 is just about perfect. The toebox is comfortable; doesn't feel floppy; BUT I do need to use the back hole for the laces (that's why it's there right :-) ). I have "duck feet" much wider in toes than heel. I've got a special insert for heel spurs and numb toes, plenty of room for this, and I've been walking around in them for a couple weeks, including some three mile exercise walks, and am not hurting. Very light shoe, compared to the Saucony that I usually love and wear. My doctor said I didn't need the "overkill" support I was paying for, and to just get a shoe that wasn't flexible in the arch. I'm sending in now for a second pair of this model. I am overweight, but these feel sturdy enough to last. The original padding felt heavenly, but had to trade that in on my firm inserts. I tried a pair of the nimbus at the same time, but it felt like it was trying to help me not walk on the inside of my foot, and since I have the opposite problem, I'm sending those back.

I really enjoy this pair of leggings!

Here's what you get: A -verythin, soft, comfortable pair of leggings that in no way is see-thru. The material wicks sweat away so you stay comfortable and dry all day. I was expecting something with a little bit more compression but this pair of leggings does not offer any of that at all. So if you're looking for something with a bit more support, you're barking up the wrong tree. Because of the material this pair of leggings does not hide cellulite at all, but it's very very comfortable.

The day I got it, I put it through the wringer: walked all over campus, did hot yoga, ran 2 miles and went to spin class. The leggings survived and then some. I'm definitely not a skinny college chick and since I'm only 5'3, the leggings reached all the way to my ankles. The v-shape waist-band is not reinforced so if you were looking for some tummy control up there, you'll get none. However, it also won't dig in and give you a muffin top. It's pretty sexy on a flat stomach though (:

This product is perfect for layering in the winter months, and cute enough to layer under tunics or long tanks when it's warmer out. I wear a medium, bought a medium and it fits just fine. (: Beautifully made and extremely comfortable, these leggings will take you far. It also doesn't stretch-out, so unlike regular cotton leggings, these will shrink back once you take them off.

I like this product, wasn't what I was looking for, but definitely a good find and buy!

The Cybersilk Legging's made by Snow Angel are the best that I've ever found!! I've taken them on several week long ski trips and you can wear them day after day with very minimal odor. I've owned these for several years and even after all of my abuse, they are in great shape.

These leggings feel like second skin. I have just moved into a humid area for the first time and got the leggings because walking around in damp jeans is laborious. They seem to run a little big, I am 5'8 and 180 pounds and the extra large is almost too big for me which is unusual. I love the waist, it doesn't dig in or give me a muffin top and it stays up just fine. The legs are nice and long and actually say over my heals for the first few minutes I have them on which is nice because it's so common for things to be to short at my height.

These are the lighter version for summer, I can tell that it wouldn't keep me warm in the winter. I am definitely ordering the warmer version of these leggings ASAP. They also aren't very forgiving when it comes to showing celulite but since I plan on always wearing long shirts with them it won't be a big deal.

I would highly recommend these leggings for casual and sports use. If you want them to be tight I would consider ordering a size smaller than your usual.

I was looking for a layering piece, and I think this is it! The test: 4 hrs of golf/walking in 50-degree weather under a regular skirt.

Pros:

Very thin, but not see-through, not too shiney, and very comfortable forget that I'm even wearing it.

Even by itself, warm but not hot for 50-degrees. I imagine it will be fine for 40-degree weather, too.

Cons:

After 1 hr of wear under a skirt, they started slipping down (I'm 5'4", 115 120 lbs, usually wear an xs and ordered an xs).

After 2 hrs, the seam in the waist started to irritate my skin.

The v-shaped waistband is made of the same material as the leggings it doesn't cut into my waist, but it doesn't hold up the pants if you wear it on it's own may be a non-issue if worn under pants (haven't tried that, yet). Also, the seam that connects the waistband to the pants is not a flat seam, so over time, it becomes irritating.

Overall, I think the cons are very minor. (Expect to wear it under dress pants and jeans when the weather gets colder maybe will tuck a cami between me and the waistband to prevent irritation.

They are comfortable, and I like wearing them. My only issue is that the pockets are about an inch too short, so when you sit down (at least in my car), whatever is in my front pockets falls into the seat of my car. If they were an inch deeper, these shorts would be perfect.

I did my first sprint triathlon in this singlet and it worked out great! It was easy and comfortable to wear it under my wetsuit. It did try fast once out of the water. It didn't chafe me at all, which I appreciated. And I really love the color! Only minor complaint was that after two washes in cold water (machine, not by hand), I can't tell if I'm going crazy or if it's fading slightly. Likely my fault for not doing laundry well but I'd recommend washing by hand to keep the color bright!

I've been using Body Glide more than once a week for 4-5 years. Body Glide used to be a great product. It's still a decent product, but it seems the water content has been slightly increased. This change has caused a "paste" problem. The first time I got a "paste" stick from Amazon, I assumed it was a fluke. So, I ordered more from a different on-line company, and unfortunately I have the same issue on multiple sticks from multiple sources.

Body Glide is advertised as, "Dry Non-Greasy Skin Lubricant". The important word here is "dry" and in the past the product has always been dry. I could rub it on with a nice firm stroke and it would really stick right where I wanted. No mess, quick and easy, all set for my ride. The new product is softer and more of a firm paste than a true dry solid. I can't simply rub it on dry like I used to. Now I have to rub in on with light pressure, then spread it around with my fingers a bit, then wipe down the side of the stick since the new product is slightly messy.

Chafing should be a four-letter word. There are parts of my body that cannot live without BodyGlide. You name it, I use it there. Have used this on many long runs/marathons/ultramarathons and can't complain with any experience. Used on "upper-inner thigh", nipples, lats, privates, feet, etc. with positive experience every time. Just a shame that the clothing/weather forces you to have to use this product. Not many experiences in torrential downpours, but it does take a little extra scrubbing to remove in the shower afterwards, so i imagine it holds up fairly well. Have not tried any other comperable products to compare to however, outside of Vaseline. IMHO, this product works better than straight Vaseline.

This bra was soft and smooth, but was so tight I could hardly get it on. I can't even imagine trying to get it off while sweaty after working out! The band that runs around just under the bust line has almost no stretch which makes getting it on/off a challenge. I sent it back for a refund. With so much size inflation these days I usually have to order a small or extra small, I am a 32/34B and I ordered a small which perhaps was true to size and way too small for me!

Been doing martial arts for two years now. Repeat rib injuries to the cartilage between them; 6 months a pop of time off from training sucks. This is the solution until I can get those areas a little tougher.

So far so good. No further injuries to those pesky ribs. I don't think the material will give your training partner a rash; just the same I wear a shirt over it to be safe.

I have a lot of Shock Doctor gear, I like them.

If you're having the same problem with repeat injuries to your ribs, heres a peice of advice: wait until they're healed COMPLETELY before returning. This can take up to 6 months or more (not a lot of circulation, the area is always moving from breathing, etc). Heat helps after a couple weeks or so, and consider getting something like this for future injuries. Don't try to superman it and work through the pain. You're only prolonging your recovery time.

But--She loves them. Says the length is just perfect (she's 5'2"), and the size 6, tho, is a little generous, so if you want a "closer fit" try a size smaller. They are cool to the touch so that's also a plus when wearing on a walk or a golf round. I think the big XXXs at the waist look ridiculous, but then, I don't have to wear them. Also, I did find they seem to be in demand and price is not discounted (for white) but I did later find much less expensive on other sites (with free shipping and return!) , so shop carefully.
