Buy Hi-Tec Men's Granite Peak Parka Jacket

The Granite Peak Parka is a great but not quite perfect jacket. The 3 in 1 design features an outer jacket that's highly windproof and waterproof, and an inner fleece jacket that zips into the outer jacket for added warmth. Either the outer shell jacket or the inner fleece can be worn independently, or together as conditions warrant. It's truly a versatile jacket and I've come to love the flexibility this kind of rig offers. For what it's worth, I have a similar 3 in 1 jacket from Columbia's Titanium line and this one is pretty comparable in quality and functionality (and interestingly, my Columbia & Hi Tec jackets have identical zippers, allowing me to interchange the inner fleece jackets between the two).

First, the positives: Quality is really high. Sturdy durable shell, welded seams, beefy zippers and pulls, etc. No doubt this will last many years. Water beads up nicely on the shell and it handles inclement weather well, also blocking wind very effectively. Aesthetically, the jacket is nice looking and sporty. The fleece is handsome with a very traditional, outdoors look (unlike my Columbia liner jacket that is more tailored looking) and it offers good warmth coupled with the shell. The sizing is accurate (mine is XL) with room for additional layers underneath and room to move as activities might dictate, but not baggy. Plenty of pockets (2 hand pockets, 2 chest pockets, and 1 inner pocket on the shell; 2 hand pockets and 1 chest pocket on the fleece), and the shell hand pockets have a nice fleece lining for comfort and warmth (lacking on my Columbia jacket). A big plus is the smooth lining on the inside of the fleece jacket, which allows it to slip on and off easily over other layers. My Columbia fleece jacket lacks this and it can be a pain when removing the jacket and the material wants to stick to the bases layers. Lastly, both shell and liner have drawstrings on the waist to help keep out cold and elements.

Now the neutrals, depending upon preference: The jacket does not have zippered underarms for cooling down-if you're into winter sports and want pit zips then this isn't the jacket for you, if you want a warm jacket for winter then you're fine. The shell sleeve cuffs have a velcro strap for tightening them to keep snow, wind, cold, etc from getting in at the wrists. I like the option of cinching the cuffs down tight. But the cuffs also have built in elastic which I don't like whenever I put on or take off the jacket the elasticized sleeves catch on my watch and I just dislike the feel of the cuffs putting slight pressure on my wrists all the time. Some folks may like the elastic, but I wish it weren't there. Next, I wish the neck was just a hair roomier when the jacket is zipped all the way up. I have a big neck (17+ inch neck in dress shirts) and although it isn't overly restrictive, the neck area is slightly more snug than I would like when the jacket is secured around the neck area (in fairness, if your neck isn't big this shouldn't be an issue). Finally, the hood is not removable. It can be rolled up and secured with a velcro strip, but for those who prefer a removable hood be aware this one is full-time.

Now for the few negatives I've found: First, wish the openings for the hand pockets on the shell were a little bigger. Not hard to get my hands in, but not much spare room with the openings becomes slightly annoying if you're wearing insulated gloves that add bulk to the hands. The pockets on my Columbia shell have a taller opening and it's more comfortable and natural feeling. Second, the hood works reasonably well but would benefit from a more substantial support brim. My Columbia hood has a wire brim that's bendable and retains it's shape, and it makes the hood so much more manageable.

There you have my take on the Granite Peak Parka. Overall it's a quality piece of gear that does a lot well, and it might just render a bunch of your old jackets and fleeces obsolete. Aside from a less than stellar hood system and some areas of simple preference, there's not much to complain about here. If you're looking for a 3 in 1 jacket (which I highly recommend) this one is definitely worth a look, particularly because it can often be found online for under $100 and offers a lot of bang for that kind of buck.

Best ASICS Women's Gel-Ds Trainer 18 Running Shoe Deals

I love asics. They fit my foot the moment I put them on. I run 20-25 miles a week. I train for every distance. I had the DS Trainer 16 & 17. I have tried other asics in between (2170's and Kayano 19) but returned each for the trainers. They are lightweight and have lots of room in the toe box. I have bunions so that is a plus. I wear a 9.5 in regular shoes but buy my trainers in a 10.5 because I do get blisters on top of my toes. If you are not prone to blisters, then a half size up would probably do well for you. The color is awesome. The last two pairs of trainers were UGLY and drab. These are beautiful, hip and colorful. You won't forget me as I pass you by! I DO have custom insoles so I am able to put them in and go. I ran 6 miles this morning and have decided to run my half marathon in 3 days in them because they felt so good. In regards to the new styling. I love it as well. Again, the past versions were not so pretty to look at. I wore them ONLY to run in. These I wear all the time which is a no no because I can't track milage but they are so darn cute, I can't help myself. No matter if you buy them to run in or just want some really great looking bright shoes, you won't be disappointed! Go for it.

I love Asics running shoes this was pair #6. But this shoe was not true to size it had to be a half size too small. My other Asics all still fit so my foot hasn't grown but I couldn't wear these. :-(

My brand new tent sprung a hole in the roof. I was glad to have this McNett repair tape. It goes on clear and patched the area well. Just make sure to bring along some scissors. I haven't had problems with it but will update the review if I do.

These teflon cables are good. They move smoothly and are quite thin, unlike traditional cables. But if you cut them and try to re-run them, they are not as sturdy as traditional cables and begin to come undone. You have to be precise and exact and cut them and fasten them ONCE. Otherwise they'll flake and have to get more for teh 2nd 0r 3rd try. The cable covers supplied are not enough as others have mentioned, and nobody carries cable covers that thin, so you have to order more... and try again. Stick to Shimano or other general cables and covers if you won't get it on the first try. And even if you do measure, they don't give you much cable covering for errors.

The Force 9 is made of 2 layer Gore-Tex fabric (While the O.R. website does not specify, I think it is Paclite.), one of the most waterproof shell fabrics on the market. No matter how terrible the cats and dogs, water will not penetrate it.

It has a broad brim, three inches in front expanding to four inches in the back, and is hardened on the front so that is does not get all flappy when in high wind, like Outdoor Research's similar Seattle Sombrero, which I also own. It is broad enough so that neither wind blown rain nor water running off the brim get into the neck area of your jacket, and the extra inch in the rear even helps prevent water buildup in unworn jacket hoods. The tradeoff of the firmer front brim is that the hat is not quite as packable as the Seattle Sombrero, yet it is still pliable enough for easy packing.

For improved breathability and ventilation, the hat has a rear vent that is well protected from water infiltration. This works so well that the hat is not uncomfortable to wear in warmer temperatures, which is a problem I have with the Seattle Sombrero, which lacks the vent. The Force 9 has a head adjustment cord with secure lock, an adjustable neck strap, a sweat band, and four small round magnets two in the brim and two in the head so as to flip the sides up.

As for complaints, other than the magnets moving around somewhat, I have none, though some think that the hat looks a bit dated, a remark that I very much pooh-pooh. This, however, is not the fault of the hat, but a sign of changing times and tastes. Broad brimmed hats may have been quite stylish up until the early nineteen seventies, but not so much in the current epoch. How unfortunate.

The Force 9 Sombrero is another incredible product from my favorite head and hand-wear company, Outdoor Research.

Finally had a chance to go canoeing on a windy, rainy day. I think the winds were less than 20 miles per hour, but not too much less. I can report that the hat is waterproof, and that the brim did not flap in the wind. It is true that because of the sideways rain, my glasses did not remain completely dry, but I don't see any way to avoid that.

The bat stays dry and the chin strap stays on during heavy winds.

It is comfortable and not too hot. I can wear this at any time during the year without worries.

I bought these gloves as my hands get cold all the time while at the computer. They are soft, and they have a seam at the end of each finger so the glove stays snug at the edges. I have not washed them yet, but plan to only hand-wash them. They do exactly what I wanted them to do, namely keep my hands warm while inside, without being too bulky.

I would buy them again, and for those looking for the same reasons, these will do well on men with larger hands. I normally wear a XL to a 2XL in a glove, but these do not feel too tight on me at all.

I got these gloves because I do temperament testing with shelter dogs every week and I need my fingers free to write notes and check the dogs over properly. These gloves are perfect for what I need. They are even better than what I expected. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I have to wash them every week and the first time I washed them they got white pills all over them. Because of what I use them for, this wasn't a big deal to me, but it may be to someone else.

These are not what I was hoping for. The issue is the fit. I ordered a small (other reviewers here tipped me off that they run big) and these are very bulky. The ribbed cuff fits fine (just a tiny bit itchy, not too bad) but the hand puffs out and doesn't look good. I bought them for wearing at home while typing and sitting around the house (my hands are always cold if it's under 70 degrees). I might give them to my husband, but have been wearing them for now until I find something better.

These fingerless gloves are great! Perfect warmth factor, considering the lack of fingers, I can use my iphone and still remain relatively toasty. Also the semi-grippy rubber knots on the palm side help out a little, not as much as the Defeet gloves which are tackier/grippier. All in all, I recommend these gloves. You wont be sorry. I'm 5'7" and 186lbs, normal build, size 9 shoes, the S/M fit perfectly. Enjoy.
