I wore these pants to a remote (meaning mosquito infected) area of the Caribbean. I got the long size, which was helpful in providing protection for my feet, too. I had no problems with the biters on my legs or feet when wearing these pants. They won't protect you from getting bit in the arms or face, though, so wear other protection. They look ok for adventure pants, but aren't fashionable enough for wearing them otherwise. I found that these pants run small. I normally wear size 6-8 in jeans and ended up getting these pants in a size 12.

I purchased these pants to bring on a trip to Belize (Bug capital of the world). I did not get a single bug bite while wearing these pants (unlike my friends). Although they are not a fashion statement (the waist is a little high), I am really glad I purchased these. They worked great in the hot and rainy jungle. They kept me COOL, DRIED REALLY QUICK when soaked and KEPT THE BUGS AWAY better than any spray I used. They also didn't snag when I walked through some prickly brush. I wish I purchased more than one, I ended up washing them in the sink at our hotel so I could wear them again they were dry by morning. I also purchased a Columbia bug shield button up shirt for the trip that worked just as well. I thought they fit true to size but if your concerned about a tighter waist, maybe size up one. They will not fall off. A bug shield hat worked wonders too!

These are nice and cool. I wear them to work with a stay-dry polo shirt. I live in Florida, so it's very hot and humid. These pants are nice and cool for walking to work and lunch. I think I'm really a size 6 (I just had a baby, so I'm still figuring out what size will fit me) and the size 8 fits me ever so slightly loose just enough room to make them SUPER comfortable.
