I use this for all our fleece garments so we have the option of using it as an outer layer and staying dry. Easy to follow instructions, but do read them 1st. I have had a couple of bottles come without the directions printed and I looked them up on line.

My husband's REI waterproof coat had lost its ability to repel water and he was considering getting rid of the coat, which was otherwise perfect. The jacket was lightweight and unlined. I bought both the tech wash and the Nikwax Polar Proof Fabric Water repellent. I did both the washing and the water repellance in my front load washer. After washing the coats (I and several others that I threw in the wash), I hung the coats to dry. After drying, I put 3 jackets in my front loader, added the water repellent (the entire bottle) into the machine itself, not the dispenser. When it was washing, there were quite a few suds but my machine never gave me a warning like it does when I have mistakenly used non-He detergent. When the wash was complete, I put the jackets in the dryer on air dry. While you can't see any difference or feel any difference, his jacket that used to turn dark in the rain, no longer does. It is still working great after a few weeks.

So glad to have found this product! It saved a perfectly good jacket.

Amazing stuff! Throw into the rinse cycle of anything you just washed with Tech Wash. Dry (I hang dry) and water just rolls off! I use it on soft shells all the way to fleece garments. It works!

If you cloth diaper and use fleece covers, this is the product you want to help restore your fleece's water resistance.

With repeated washings, fleece diaper covers lose their water resistance, but this can be fixed. Nikwax Polar Proof is very easy to use. I just put my clean covers in the washing machine with a cap or two of Polar Proof, start a wash cycle, pause it to let them soak for an hour or two, then allow the cycle to continue. I don't think the soaking is technically necessary, but I feel like I'm doing a better job when I do it that way. When the covers, soakers, or longies come out, hang them to dry, and they're as good as new! No more leaks!
