This mat is the perfect size for someone 6'3". The firmness or thickness is just firm enough for inversions like handstands yet provides enough cushion for jump backs or kneeling. I thought this was just about the perfect mat until after just 30 classes it tore on a jump back form crow. I was amazed to see that the natural rubber traction surface is less than 1/16" thick.

The video says it all. The beauty of this mat is only skin deep.

I needed a larger mat since I'm tall.. The mat's cushion is so much better than my previous one & stickier also. The only downfall is it is very heavy & you have to buy the yoga bag because there is too much material to just fold up & use a strap. But I am so enjoying my classes with it! Namaste!

This mat is HUGE, i call it my Monster Mat. I love that its so grippy, so much so that i can't drag my toes forward when i transition to up dog. My solution is to use a mat towel and match it to the back edge of my mat. Since the mat is so Huge (78" X 30) the mat towel leaves me 7" of sticky mat surface at the top for my hands and i can still drag my toes in the transition. Like any mat, sticky or not, it still does slip when it gets wet (for me) guess it depends on what kind of yoga you practice. I also like the large "real estate" that it provides on all sides, no ones foot in your face, cause they're an extra 6 inches away from you!

The dual Scrim (cotton layer) between makes it stiffer and firmer and adds more grip but also gives up some cushioning. So it gives you a really firm grounded feel, which is great for arm balances and inversions but you loose a bit of the padded feeling, i feel its a great balance of grip and cushion.

One problem is that since the mat is so wide, there is no yoga mat bag large enough to fit this mat. The solution I've found is that the bag that the Colman collapsable chair comes in (you know the chair you use for camping) fits the mat perfectly! Or you can just use straps. Initially it has a strong rubber smell, as do ALL natural rubber mats, but it goes away with time. It helps to unroll it and leave it out uncoiled to air it out when not in use.

I purchased this product because I am a 6' guy who is built more like a middle linebacker than a runner. I am beginning yoga and was practicing on a 24" mat. I found it hard to use because when I went into plank, my natural position was to have on my hands half way on the mat and half way off. This, I realized was not good. This mat gave me the freedom to move around on the mat and not have my hands overlapping it. The mats that I learned on had a lot more cushion than this mat. This mat is thinner and heavier than those mats. I will say that the mat, when I first got it had a VERY rubbery annoying smell. I followed the instructions with vinegar and found that in time, the smell lightened.

I find the mat to hold me like I expected, but if I am sweating, it feels like I am slipping, but I am really not.

My suggestion to the company is to include a bottle of something to help with the smell and cleaning, perhaps a sample size of another product. I would also recommend that they offer bags to carry it in. Their one bag, which is nylon BARELY covers it. I would like to see a canvas bag or some other options for this. This mat weighs nearly 8 pounds, so treat it like carry a long tube that weighs as much as a modern 17" laptop.

I absolutely love this mat so far. It's 78" long, so my 6'5 inch frame fits perfectly on it. It's also extra wide, so I'm not hanging off the sides when doing crow and other poses that require a wide base. The mat is super sticky, so I feel comfortable in all my poses. Definitely the Cadillac of yoga mats... I would highly recommend this mat (or any product by Prana for that matter)
