Definitely water proof as I have worn it in heavy downpours and did not become drenched however I was still "sticky" due to a lack of a breath-ability in the material.

Jacket is amazing.. Keeps me dry in this Vancouver rain, my only complaint is that I wishit had an inside chest picket like the seven J jacket from Helly Hansen, aside from that this jacket is perfect! Love it!
