Although I'm not a runner, I do intense plyo and cardio workouts, and these have been great to wear since they offer extra support in the Achilles tendon and arch areas, which my high arches appreciate.

Even though they are very thick and heavy, the fabric breathes, and so my legs didn't feel too warm in these. They also have a UPF 50 rating, which makes them nice for added sun protection outdoors. They also have an antimicrobial fabric to keep them from getting too stinky.

When I ordered these, I wasn't sure what size to get since that information wasn't available. The back of the box contains a sizing chart, which Amazon isn't showing on the product page, so here is some of that information to help other buyers:

--Size XS for calves 30-37 cm and American shoe sizes from 5-6.5

--Size S for calves 32-37 cm and shoe sizes from 7-9.5

--Size M for calves 38-42 cm and shoe sizes from 7.5-10

--Size L for calves 43-47 cm and shoe sizes from 8.5-10.5

--Size XL for calves 44-48 cm and shoe sizes from 12-14

These should fit tightly when you get them so that they can offer the compression support you need, but you definitely don't want them cutting off the circulation, so hopefully the sizing info helps.

These compression socks fit quite tightly, but are comfortable. I wear them for both running and recovery, as well as support when traveling on a plane. The height of the sock is slightly shorter than the comparable CEP socks, which is why I did not rate them five stars. The CEP socks come right up to, and slightly over, my knee, while these are about an inch below my knee. I'm 5'6", so these would probably work for those shorter than me. For those my height and taller, go with the CEP.

They are comfortable, and I like the way they look. (The pink is a lighter, more subtle pink color than it appears in the product picture). I am starting to run again, but ran on concrete with shoes with poor absorption/cushioning and got shin splints. It hurt even when I wasn't walking. I got these socks, and my shins felt so much better right away. They help with the pain when I'm walking too. It hurts less when I have the socks off too. I can't run yet, but these seem to be helping me heal faster.

One note about the sizing: The sizes are based on shoe size and calf size. I bought these at a local store, and was able to try them on. I didn't know my calf girth, but the ones that were my size based on my shoe size fit perfect. It won't let me upload an image for this product, but here is what is on the box: (calf size / shoe size)

XS: Calf Girth: 12"-13". USA Women: 5.5-8.

S: Calf Girth: 13"-14". USA Women: 7.5-10.

M: Calf Girth: 14"-15.5". USA Women: 9.5-12.

L: Calf Girth: 15.5"-16.5". USA Women: 11-14.

XL: Calf Girth: 16.5"-18". USA Women: 13-15.5+.

Honest reviews on 2XU Women's Compression Race Sock

After trying a pair of my husband's 2XU Compression Race Socks, I wanted a pair of my own. I ended up buying both the Race Sock and Recovery Sock, both in women's medium. The recovery socks fit well the sock goes fully over my calf, with the top sitting just below my knee. But the race socks are too short by about 1.5", so that the band at the top of the sock sits uncomfortably right across the calf muscle. I have no idea why the two types of socks, same brand, same size, would fit so differently. For reference, I'm 5'9", with a 33" inseam, 8.5 shoes, and 15" calves.

Other than fit, I really like the fabric and compression pressure of these socks. I may try a men's small next, which will hopefully be a little longer.

The socks are made of very nice material and withstand wear. The price is higher than I would like to have to pay for these socks, but they are a great product.
