My son is extremely allergic to Mosquito bites. I have looked and tried many different kinds of DEET FREE repellents. This one SMELLS GREAT!! It worked great too!! He would swell up so much and other types had DEET which soaks into your skin and goes throughout your body and settles...somewhere! I do not want that for my son nor our family. This smells so much better than the other and isn't sticky and you can rest assured when you spread it around with your fingers. Reccommend to anyone!

While my wife and I both thought that the smell was horrible, and immediately wanted to bathe our 10 month old son as soon as we brought him inside, it worked. We did make the joke that insects didn't bother him because he smelled so bad, but it did what it was supposed to, and he didn't end up with any mosquito bites. The product could stand to smell better. We wish we hadn't had to bathe our baby before we even put him down for a nap, but we're happy he didn't get any bites. As long as the smell isn't to bothersome to the child, or parents, we'd absolutely recommend it.

There is no doubt that this product is effective but when put to the ultimate test it falls short. However, I did use it in combination with another product for a really, really great combo. I recently put this to a very rigorous test sleeping in the woods within a 3 minute walk from a marsh, the ocean and a lilly pond in Maine. I was hoping this was the be all and end all of our camping bug protection because I hate the idea of DEET on the skin. My husband went straight for the Deep Woods Off while I applied a heavy dose of this stuff on myself and my four year old. The bugs kept swarming like crazy despite the application but the amount of bugs that actually tried to bite was dramatically reduced. Having done a real life comparison I must say that it seemed that the All Terrain worked just as well for myself as the Deep Woods Off did for my husband, but neither one alone were really a great help in this environment. It was still a miserable bug infested situation using the DEET and DEET free alternative. My relief finally came when I took out the new OFF clip on. The combination of the two was the true miracle I was looking for. Later in the week I put the All Terrain away and started offering blessings to the OFF but soon realized that the two items together were the real power team and did not get a single bug bite when I used them together. I have no idea what is in the OFF clip but I am sure it isn't something that you want to breathe in on a regular basis or the non-chemical alternative you might be hoping for but if you are going to be in a swampy mess of an area you might want to weigh the risks between disease ridden mosquitos and some fumes. Overall, as stated it seemed to be comparible in effectiveness to a spray on deet product but I would not go so far to say it is better. Also lots of people commented on the smell and it was very strong but it went away quickly and smelled like citronella.

I bought this item because it was small and could easily fit in my purse. We brought it with us on our honeymoon to Jamaica. It worked really well for keeping the bugs away. We were not bitten at all, while having dinner at night on the restaurant patio. However, I gave this item only 4 stars because the fragrance was very strong. It wasn't a bad smell, just really potent, maybe we applied too much. But we went back to off bug spray because it was less potent.

To test this product I put it on one of my legs & arms and not on my other leg & arm. It repelled those nasty Mosquitos on my entire right side where I applied this product, but my left side had a few bug bites :-( so! For me, this product did it's job. You really have to lather it on well. I have to practically rub it in on every inch of my son. Love that it works & it's deet-free. The smell isn't awful, just strong. I prefer the scent of this product over traditional insect repellents. Good product but you have I reapply depending on how long you're outside, which is why I gave it four stars. I would definitely recommend this product!
