The guy that said these pants ran small has obviously not tried on pants since gaining a few lbs. I read the review and changed my order from a large to an XL so now I have to send them back for the Large size. The XL's will fit a 38 and 40 waist perfectly.

Much as I adored Smart Wool (the look, the feel, the great assortment), every single pair has worn out in the heel and all within one single year. And I own about 45 pairs of 'em!! Now I have the makings for a quite expensive wool sock quilt. Great.

But this year I discovered these Darn Tough socks, and decided I would take them up on their challenge of a lifetime guarantee. Hah! We laughed out loud in the store as we read the terms. They have no idea what my heels are capable of! But they have made it fun and comfy for me during this test-phase; the sizing is perfect, the wool is just the right thickness, and the patterns are nice. I just wish there was more variety. And they do tend to twist around my feet (I go stocking-footed a lot), but not quite as much as Smart Wool.

I will revisit this review with an update after a year, since that was the literal break-point with my old Smart Wools.

Update: 11/03/2012 Still going! 11 months later my Darn Toughs are as thick as the day I bought them, with no wearing out in the heels. Although I loved Smart Wool for many years, I have to say Darn Tough is my sock of choice now.

Like all my 2xU gear, this fits perfectly. I wore this and the matching tri shorts for a half ironman in Las Vegas last year. Tight in the legssnug, definantely a skinny jean type fit. I had to size up to fit the legs which makes big on the waist. If you have a straight figure normal sizing will fit you fine. I am a runner and cyclist so thighs are muscular.

Excellent. 230 g/m2 is a medium weight, and feels substantial and soft.

I usually wear a medium t-shirt (from any common, tight-fitting brand like American Apparel), but I found this medium crew top had its shoulder seams a full inch down my deltoids. I couldn't quite tell if this was a stylistic choice on the part of Minus33 or not, since the length of the sleeves was about right.

I decided to exchange for a small, because I'd rather have the shoulder seams line up correctly and have the top be form-fitting (since it is a base layer), even if the arm length may end up a little short. I should mention that I am fairly slim and not broad shouldered. If you have very wide shoulders then this might not apply, but if you're slim and usually wear a medium, consider ordering a size small instead. I do not know if this trend carries through the other sizes.

UPDATE: This crewneck has become my "go to" top when I am unsure of what temperature I'll be in. Whether that means going to a movie theater that might be cold or warm, or sleeping in winter without knowing what temp the house might end up at overnight. Only downside of this top is that it has made me aware of how lousy cotton tops (like henleys) are in contrast.

I bought one of these a couple years ago and absolutely love it. It takes the place of a full on sweater with a fraction of the weight and volume. I live in coastal British Columbia and the weather can go from blazing hot to near freezing rain in 30 seconds and it seems like I am constantly getting splashed with water (either in the boat, kayaking or just feeding cattle). Under these conditions, wool is king. This shirt is perfect for layering and so comfortable and versatile it's amazing throw this over a t-shirt, top it with a fleece jacket and a raincoat and you're good from the Baja to the Arctic. I am just getting ready to take it on a 3 month trip through Chile and Argentina and it is so comfortable that it literally has replaced a whole collection of Pendleton shirts (sorry Pendleton, but I hardly wear you anymore since I got this talk about freeing up space in my luggage!). I also bought a couple of the lighter weight wool tops at the same time and they are all very high quality, very well made and super warm. I'm kind of a relic as I grew up on wool and never did make the switch to synthetics. I've always thought synthetics were were cold as all get out, uncomfortably clammy, totally overhyped and they always smell like some sort of toxic petroleum byproduct. Synthetic clothing is something that manufacturers wish people liked because it is cheap to make and old pop bottles are pretty available (basically free, we throw more in the ocean then we reuse), but humans are kind of a funny animal and we're hard to fool. Even after 30 years of pushing coal tar based plastic garments on people there are still millions of us Luddites haunting second hand and army surplus stores looking for high quality wool clothing. I guess somebody must have noticed because now it's available brand new at Amazon. Too cool! Have things gone full circle or what? I've got to try those crazy Minus33 wool t-shirts next, they look wonderful.

Oh, and about the cost. For what you get, these things are dirt cheap. These will outlast any number of spun coal tar units. And, real people make them, real people grow the sheep, real people shear the sheep and, after treasuring them for years, when you finally do wear them out you can compost them and use them to grow vegetables. What more do you want?

These shirts are so warm and comfy, they fit great look great, I am working in the mountains in Afghanistan, and have to use the laundry service that is provided, needless to say the tags are not getting read or washed according to instructions, that being said, they are doing great! the only thing i don't like, the wrist band is to narrow, it's like having a rubber band around your wrist which can get a little irritating, but other than that there just dandy! i would recommend these to anyone!

I'm a bicycle commuter and I commute year-round in the wonderful state of Colorado (which can get very cold in the winter!). I've been searching for a good material for commuting and I think I've hit the jackpot!

I don't like the typical synthetic stuff you see many cyclists wear. It's not that great in cold weather and it needs to be washed constantly because it STINKS when you sweat in it. Also, most synthetic stuff geared for performance looks like synthetic stuff geared for performance I would never go to the bar wearing a lycra jersey, for instance. Merino wool solves all of these problems!

It's cool when it's warm, warm when it's cold and it's very comfortable once you break it in (I did experience very slight itching when I first used this product, but it went away after a couple wears and now it feels like a hug!). It amazes me how infrequently I have to wash this thing! I have gone on a half dozen sweaty rides before noticing any stink on this shirt, and it even passes the smell tests that my wife's super sensitive nose gives it. It air-dries amazingly fast, it's water repellent and it wicks sweat away much better than even the best synthetic stuff I own. Unlike other materials, you will still remain warm and cozy even it becomes wet. It also looks decent it may not be the most fashionable thing in the world, but you can wear it in public and not feel like you look ridiculous.

I would pair this shirt with a nice shell jacket, especially if you are a bicycle commuter. Merino wool is very breathable, which is awesome when it's warm out, but a bit chilly on the cooler days. With a shell and just this shirt I am comfortable well into the lower 30s(F).

The only downside is that the sleeves run a tad short for me. I'm 6'1, so maybe I should have gone with the tall version. This is a personal fit issue (and only slight) and I don't see many people complaining about it in general, so it's probably just my body type, however, I don't normally run into this issue with other long sleeve shirts.

Anyway, merino wool is amazing stuff! I'm slowly piecing together a nice collection.

EDIT: Bought a 14 inch after market one-piece barrel and I am sad to say that the barrel will not fit in this case. It is made for 2-piece barrels or barrels shorter than 14inches so be sure to know if your gear will fit.

ExOfficio is trying to create attractive women's outdoor clothing (something few if any companies are doing), and these pants achieve that goal. They are both cute and comfortable, rich in color and shapely. That being said I did end up returning them because after trying two different sizes, the fit was just not right for my body type. I am curvy, their models may be more straight. When they fit in the hips, I had 3" extra in the waist. They need to add an "Apple Bottom" cut for me I guess.

I love these pants. They ride just below the waist and the waistband is lined with soft fabric. I have them in 2 colours and can build complete wardrobe around them when I travel as they roll up to be capris and are so light that they work in heat too...only time I rethink taking them is to the tropics with high heat and high humidity. Bonus is you can hand wash them and they are dry in no time.

I love ExOfficio and loved everything about these pants when I tried them on. I'm sure they will pack well. They have plenty of room to move in and are almost weightless. The Teflon coating should repel water though it scares me a bit to think of wearing Teflon. But that is not what the three stars are about.

So what is the problem?? There are two snaps on the front that have VERY SHARP edges on their backs. I didn't notice this when I tried them on but the first time I sat down they cut into my stomach. If you have a flat muscular stomach these might work well but an ounce of baby fat on the belly might be too much. The pants were not tight around my waist, in fact they fit perfectly and sat just below waist level which I love. They even have a nice felt liner that goes around the waist but DOES NOT cover the sharp flat backs on the snaps. I'll probably find some soft flannel and sew a backing on them because I love the pants otherwise, but I hate having to fix something on pants that I paid this much for!!

Nearly perfect travel/hiking pants. I wore these almost daily/nightly on my recent three week camping vacation through the Boundary Waters and northern shores of Lake Superior. When I wasn't wearing these pants, I was in my ExOfficio Nomad shorts! These are the ultimate pants for long car travel, trekking through mosquito infested woods, hours in a canoe, sitting around the fire, as well as dining out. Material resists dirt and washes exceptionally well, packs small-without wrinkling, and deters the discomforts of bugs/brush on a hot day-while providing enough breath to keep an active gal cool. Stylistically, the side pockets provided tons of room for safe handling of maps, i.d., nutrition bars, etc., & the optional roll up legs are perfect. In addition to high functionality, they allow for feminine curves! No need to feel like you're in menswear. Back pockets and additional colors are my only wishes.

Bought a pair of these Ex Officios[[ASIN:B0043EVSBO ExOfficio Women's Nomad Roll-Up Pant] recently in the khaki color for hiking; the fabric will be great in warmer weather, like the pocket placement with zippers and snap waist. I have about a 31.5" inseam and these are long enough too. One of the reasons I selected these over other brands was the convertible pant snap up it looks good and the annoying zipper doesn't rub across the leg.

Perfect in every way BUT ONE: they are wierdly tight across the front in upper thigh/lower crotch area yet there is plenty of room at the waist. I am not pear shaped in fact, mine is the straight body type. So I don't understand this, especially for a cut that is supposed to be "relaxed fit." Wondering if once a few pounds of winter weight are shed that these will fit better or should just be returned. Decided to make the trek to REI to try on several pairs of hiking pants in various brands for comparison this tightness seems to be particular to the Ex Officios Hope they are listening to customer reviews because I really like everything else about these!

I hate bulky belts, this one is very lightweight and has a slim design. Latch design buckle, great quality. It's about 45 inches long not including buckle length. Would recommend!

I was looking to try an alternative to leather work belts. This belt is perfect. It doesn't hold sweat,stink & deform like leather belts. You can wash it.

It's infinitely adjustable & lighter than leather too. I prefer the 1.25" width size. It works nice with both jeans and shorts. The buckle has a lower profile(smaller/lighter) than the 1.5" size.
