I bought this because of the low price and the hope that I would not need to use a top tube adapter with this rack. I had a bad experience with a plastic single bike carrier which I returned and I didn't want to deal with extraneous pieces of equipment. The Rhode Gear Super Shuttle 2 is great, heavy-duty quality. I easily installed it without using the instructions. Very sturdy, very secure. I used it during some highway driving today and it didn't budge. I LOVE that I do not need to use a top tube adapter with this rack. I have a women's beach cruiser and it is incredibly easy to configure the cradles to fit most any bike. I use a bungee cord to secure the front wheel. Great bike rack. I would buy again and recommend to anyone.

I purchased my Rhode Gear bike rack in 1994, and still use it.

Adapts well to vehicles. I have used it on 2 hatchbacks, a 4-door Camry, and just now, a SUV. It is still in great shape. The straps still adjust easily, and are easy to install on any vehicle. The rack itself is easy to adjust. Every time I have needed to use it, it is easy to install and adjust by yourself.

Loading bikes. The rubberized tie down straps from back then still stretch, and can securely fasten bikes. It is a squeeze, but a few times I have put 3 bikes on it, even though it is designed for just two.

Travels well. I have taken it on several road trips without incident. Several times for 600 miles trips. No adjustment required. The only thing I have had to do is make a simple overhand knot for the end of the straps to keep them from flapping around in the wind.

All this time, and nothing has broken or stopped working. Great product.

I've had this for a few weeks now and have transported my bike about 10 times, including a 3 1/2 drive. It works perfectly, no issues with the bike swaying or hitting the car. The best thing is that it's already assembled, considering how terrible I am at putting things together. Also, setting it up is extremely easy and I didn't have to even read the instructions. The clamps are labeled "Top" "Side" and "Bottom."

The only negative for me is that I have a Nissan Versa hatchback and it blocks the rear-window wiper. Correction: this does fit below the rear-window wiper. I realized that I just had to realign it, and it actually seem to be more sturdy this way. So another positive; it fits very easily and is adjustable.

Not wanting to install a tow hitch for carrying bikes, since I do it very rarely, I opted for a trunk-type mount. Among a number of items, this is the only one I found that fits properly and to boot it is one of the most inexpensive ones. Thule makes one they claim fits, but it is a lie and after unsatisfying calls to Thule customer service, I had to return that item. Highly recommend this item for persons who cayy bikes infrequently.

There are plenty of good reviews about this product, but I did not see this information so I thought I'd add just one more.

This rack works quite well, and while it is complicated at first, once one gets to know how it should be installed it is very easy to use. It holds the bikes securely. It comes with fixed attachment straps, plus a separate strap that I used to secure the handlebars. There is also a pair of special "barbell" straps that can be used for vehicles where the upper straps won't secure. I don't need those on my Ford Escape.

However if you are transporting a ladies bicycle (which have only a lower bar, not the upper bar on the bike), the instructions say that one needs to buy an additional part, which is supposed to be snapped onto the ladies bike in the same location as the bar found on men's bicycles. In my case, there is no rear fender, and I was able to mount the ladies bike horizontally by placing it on the rack behind the seat rather than to the front of the seat.

I recommend this rack, but if you need to transport ladies bicycles, you might need an additional part!
