The design and quality of this foot pedal is absolutely terrible. It failed to work right after two months of use. It started with junk getting in around the contacts. OK, made sure I watched that. Then the contacts wouldn't make complete contact anymore so I had to stomp on the pedal to get it to turn or, better yet, it wouldn't stop turning. Awesome! That's exactly what you want to do when you're out fishing is fight with your trolling motor, right? Especially if you're in a tournament or on a fishing trip. This would be unacceptable from a unknown company with a low price product let alone something high price from a "reputable" company. Now I see it's $75 $100 to replace it with another piece of junk. I'm completely disgusted with the whole thing. I should have went with my gut and bought the cable controlled trolling motor.

I bought a nice boat(Princecraft)from a guy at work. Been boatless for about 5 years. Came with a Powerdrive 55 V2 Minn Kota. The pedal is very finicky. Mostly the right turn part of switch, but momentary on is also iffy. I asked old owner about it, he said I should get a new foot pedal, and use this as a backup. Started my research. Not really good news on reviews for this product. I took the unit apart to see about lube and cleaning. Contact points are sealed in cicuit board, and non accessable. More bad news, I am an industrial electrician, and am not impressed at all. I may try and invent something for this, as I don't want to have to buy one every season. Minn Kota should build something more reliable, shame on them. They probably like selling so many of these things as extra's, year by year. Too Bad for the consumers, who love to fish!
