the material is very thin, more like cheap lycra or something. i'm sure that it isn't, but it has that same effect where you can see every bump and imperfection in the skin beneath the shorts.

they are lightweight though and i found that once i had them hemmed a couple of inches they looked much better. they just didn't seem flattering in the larger sizes and at that length. then again, that's me and everyone's body and preferences are different.

I bought two pairs of these shorts and they are now the only workout shorts I wear. Shorts like these are really hard to find--not too short, not too tight, have pockets, very lightweight, dry in a flash. Waist is soft, not tight and does not pinch. Perfect for a fit 55-year-old!
