The band is not tight so it does not cut in to you at all. The waist comes up to where the picture indicates. Much better price than other brands and quality seems comparable at the moment (haven't used them yet). I got white and black. I am a true size 6 and the small fits perfectly. No bagging at the bum and a good tightness around the legs. The band may get pushed down in strong waves when you board or surf, but not further down than the top of the second section.

I bought these bottoms to wear to my prenatal swimming class. Since they fold over, I figured they'd be good to adjust to different sizes. So far no concerns! I got a large due to being pregnant and i think they fit just fine. Pre baby i wore pants 6, but with bathing suits they are so stretchy i figured I'd rather be too big then too tight!
