For years I have used a fiberglass cane pole and it has done very good but there are limitations. The cane pole does not have a reel attached so I am limited to fishing twice the length of the pole. Hold the bopper, flip and swing. With the Crappie Hunter I can still use the flip and swing method but by triggering the reel I can get my bait/hook further out into the water. The Crappie Hunter also has a very flexible ultra-light rod allowing for a good hook set without ripping the hook out of the fish's mouth. Although it is called a Crappie Hunter this combo is great for pan fish of any size.

Purchased for Cappie jigging from a boat. Works just fine for that purpose. Bought it because my fishing partner had the same rod but with a different reel

I fish for crappie with everything from 50 lb test with welding rod leaders (brush piles), to 4' ultralights. The crappie hunter combo is an inexpensive alternative to the expensive units that you can buy for lifting crappie out when tied up to trees. I had one of these sitting in the basement unused for two years. I finally tried it out and liked it so much that I ordered another one. I replaced the line with neon green, Mr Crappie 6 lb test and it works great. For the price, you can't go wrong and it's another nice tool in my crappie arsenal.

Purchased this fishing pole with intended use to get some crappies or a blue gill or two, i did not expect fishing reel to actually only land a single blue gill before it malfunctioned. Rod is pretty good.

i was pleased with fishing pole and reel, the pole was little to flimsy for me though, i like a stiffer pole. reel is great
