In the past years I had doubted the power of down vests until I borrowed my friend's last year. Now, I wish I had found out about it earlier. I guess the most important thing to keep warm is your core/chest.

I shopped around for a lot of vests and I am very happy with the craftsmanship and fabric of this vest. The Marmot Down Vest is made of quality down that can be compressed for packing, but will and keep you warm in freezing temperatures. I wore this (with a long sleeve shirt) on a camping trip when temperatures dipped down to low 30s and it kept me pretty warm. It got too hot to wear on hikes in 60-70 degree weather. It fits comfortably. It does run a little larger, but I suppose if you layer up underneath, it will fit well.

I purchased this for my husband and paid $5.95 for gift wrapping. The "gift wrapping" was a blue box with one ribbon around it. The ribbon, held down with one very sticky gift tag, had come loose during shipping and because the gift tag was stuck on there so tight, I couldn't slip the ribbon back underneath. I know you think this sounds picky, but for $5.95 I expected better gift wrapping than that!

Again though, the vest is just beautiful and my husband loves it!
