bought vest to help build bone density while i walk. fits high on the chest, weights easy to put in. was worried how it would fit on a large busted woman, but it was fine (with room to spare). was also concerned how "weird" it would look on (i walk on a public road, didn't want to be a target), but it almost looks like a reflective vest. very comfortable, i also wear it while doing yard work and forget i have it on. i would recommend it for these uses.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I was super excited to get this to add a little more difficulty to push-ups, pull-ups and weight training. I started off trying to get used to it by just wearing it around the house doing other things. While I thought that this would be an comfortable thing to do, I noticed that this vest is not something that I ever got used to having on, primarily for the fit. I found that the bulkiness under the armpits was bothersome if you do anything with arm movement. It rubbed against my armpits in a tank, so I opted for a regular t-shirt.

I also found that in order to get it just tight enough that it doesn't move, also doesn't allow any expandability, making breathing difficult, especially if you are doing anything that gets your heart pumping and increases respiration. The product has very, very, very little stretch to it, if any at all. So, it's either tight and makes breathing harder or if you loosen it up, it does move somewhat. Rather than rigid straps and materials, it would be better with more flexible material, such as the material of these waist fat loss belts which I can wear for hours while exercising: McDavid Waist Trimmer. The flexible neoprene/velcro material of these belts combined with the other design features of this vest would be ideal.

The last issue I noticed and experienced is the mesh material on the outside of the vest. It is an open mesh and the velcro on the inside of the straps tends to catch on the open mesh and make fuzzies. The vest arrived with some loose threads and the velcro pulled them out even more before I had a chance to cut them off. The mesh is not the ideal fabric for a product with velcro incorporated. I can't see the mesh lasting long term.

I would say get this if you want something to wear for a little bit to add a little difficulty to push-ups or light weight training. I wouldn't recommend buying this thinking that it's ideal to do anything requiring hard and fast breathing, much arm movement, or to wear it for an extended workout.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program 10 pounds isn't a lot of weight, right?

Wearing a 10 pound vest while jogging or doing push ups probably isn't going to add a whole lot, right?

Well, that's what I thought when I first ordered this vest. I've wanted a weight vest for a while but had trouble finding one where the weight was properly distributed, and one that didn't look really stupid. The SKLZ Weighted Vest here takes care of the weight distribution issue, though it still looks like a freakin' sports bra when it comes down to it. Fortunately, the Under Armour hoodie I have goes over it perfectly, concealing what would look like a kind of freaky fashion design to bystanders.

I jumped right into it with the vest, putting it on for my usual jogging routine. As soon as I started walking to my start point, only about a 7 minute walk from my home, I could feel a big difference. It may only be ten pounds, but the vest feels like a lot more when you've got it strapped on. That was just a simple walk. The second I started jogging, it felt like I went back in time to when I was 'the fat kid' in elementary school struggling to run a simple lap for P.E. I couldn't believe that this was only ten pounds! Finishing one lap was real work, and finishing two more took longer-than-usual breaks in-between. There was a very big temptation to take it off for the final lap, but I kept it on. When all was said and done, I laid down on the bench, exhausted, for a few minutes before walking back home.

The first thing I noticed about my body when I took it off was that my stomach muscles looked different. Sure enough, here I am the day after using it for that jog, and my stomach is sore. It feels good. Using the vest for push ups and other various exercises is also drastically different, though I'll mainly be using this for running.

As for the construction and appearance of the vest, I like it for the most part. It straps on with velcro and there's very little chance of it coming undone while exercising. The weights are inserted from the inside of the vest, as you can see in the stock pictures above, though the material that the slots are cut into is pretty weak, and rips if you don't get the weights in perfectly. The vest is comfortable and there's nothing on it that feels weird against my body. Apart from that weak material issue, the only other thing I don't like about it is the look. It's a heavy sports bra for crying out loud! If you want to see a perfectly designed weight vest, check out the Hyper Vest PRO. It may cost three times as much as this one (ouch!), but that sucker is perfect and doesn't look dumb. I'm also a little cautious about how the nylon and mesh is going to hold up over time after being washed. We'll see.

For the price, you can't go wrong here. It's comfortable and makes a big difference in your routine. Just be careful and don't be stupid like me! Wear it around the house or something first before going out for a jog!

Honest reviews on SKLZ Weighted Vest

i was looking for a vest that was comfortable and practical and this one fit the bill on both levels.

it doesn't shift when running or jumping and fits across the chest which is great.

the only draw-back is that it only comes in 10lb maximum weight, if it came in a 20lb

version this would be the best vest on the market, in any case, i love it...

I made this purchase since I had a surgery that prevented me from working out/running for a while. I figured the added weight during the day will at the least help me burn more calories doing just walking around (although, probably very little). Here are few thoughts:

1) Don't expect to look cool wearing this. It looks like a man-bra and your friends WILL point that out. If you can't handle that, buy a full vest, not a half one such as this one.

2) Fit is adjustable and worked well for me. Not too uncomfortable, but don't expect it to be comfortable either (you are adding 10lbs to your shoulders).

3) You WILL have sore shoulders if using it for extended period like I did (10+ hours during the day). Don't use this if you have shoulder/back/neck/knee problems).

4) Adding 10 lbs to your body is pretty noticeable and not that easy of a transition. I can see how it can cause knee problems if used incorrectly. Start with few pounds then add more slowly.

5) Cleaning is bit annoying since you have to take out 20 half pound weights from it before washing.

6) Don't expect to add any more weight than 10 pounds. If you expect to need more weight, then consider another vest that can handle more weights.

7) Did I mention it looks like a man-bra???

Good product as long as you set your expectation/use correctly. Seems to be made well, but can't comment on how long it'll last since I got it recently.
