Katie Niemeyer, founder and creator of Handana,® contacted me to see if I would be interested in trying out her high-performance sweatband for running and sports. I was very impressed in how fast the product arrived at my front door, and just in time, since the summer heat wave and humidity had just hit Southern California.

First impressions....

What a great idea! If you are a heavy sweater and find yourself having to carry a small towel or bandana to wipe the sweat out of your eyes, you will want to give this Handana a try! It is made of a soft, durable wicking SupplexTM LycraTM fabric that wraps around your hand so you can wipe sweat from your face. The best thing is, it is right on your hand so you don't have to stash it in a pocket our pouch. The Handana keeps your fingers completely free so you can still adjust your hat, steer your bike, swig some water, use your iPod and open a gel! I wore mine on a long run during our heat wave and it worked well to keep the sweat off my face and out of my eyes, which is important to me since I wear contacts. It fits very comfortably on your hand, and you don't even realize it is there. What a great invention!

Handana® was created by Katie Niemeyer as a solution to inefficient cotton sports wristbands she wrapped around her hands to wipe away sweat and nasal drip while running.

As a SJS survivor, her eyes were very sensitive, and she found it difficult to focus on training for her first marathon while sweat was dripping into and burning her eyes. Hats, headbands and sweatbands helped, but in the Texas heat, sweat still dripped causing extreme pain and providing an excuse to stop her workouts. With the marathon a few months away, she needed a solution.

That's when Handana was born. Her idea was to create a high performance, fashionable wrist sweatband for running and sports that wraps around your hand allowing you to use both sides of your Handana hand to wipe sweat from your neck or forehead.

They are available in several sizes from XS-XL depending on your hand size, AND they come in several different color options, which I love since I like to match! Made of Supplex Lycra fabric that is soft, durable and wicks away moisture.

My Handana was a gift from a very special friend who had TENS a few years ago. Like my music, I have no idea how I ever ran without it! It's so comfy I barely noticed it was there until I needed it, it's soft, absorbent, and even matches my shorts (although that one is purely coincidental). I've recommended it to loads of people who run, cycle and especially those who do aerobics as the last thing you want to do is stop jumping around to grab a towel. As a dance teacher, I'll be recommending it to the kids as well.

Great material. Able to use for a long, sweaty run and it never felt wet. Fits hand well, but I preferred to just hold it.
