Tiger Tail is good for people who like to apply more pressure while rolling out a muscle and it WON'T pull your hair out, so Men in particular tend to like the Tiger Tail better. The Tiger Tail seems less flimsy than The Stick so in the clinic we use Tiger Tail more frequently than The Stick unless I have a "sensitive" individual (in that case, I use The Stick)
The Stick is preferred by people who don't like as much focal pressure on any one part of the muscle. The more pressure that you apply with The Stick, the more it "gives" and curves around the body area, thus decreasing the focal pressure on any given area. So if you tend to be more sensitive with pressure this one may be better for you.
As far as actually getting into any trigger points in a muscle, a Backnobber or Theracane is more appropriate for that (again it is a matter of personal preference as to which one is right for you).

I was disappointed in this product. It did not do a decent job of massaging my leg, compared to 6" foam rollers. I was surprised at how much less effective it was for me. That's probably not just this product, but these "rolling pin" massagers in general. But, in any case, not a very effective product. That's too bad, it would be nice to have a portable device that didn't require you to do crazy contortions on the floor, but that seems to be what's needed.Best Deals for SPRI Tiger Tail Rolling Muscle Massagers
I am an exercise specialist. Exercise and performance training is my business and my life. I own more exercise equipment than many gyms. I have myriad myofascial release products. I like to personally experience as many of the available tools as possible to find the best of the best. Fortunately I have the resources to purchase so many if I see another one that intriques me or I am curious about, I buy it.So about the Tiger Tail:
Positives the foam layer on the roller is nice. It is good for moderating the intensity of this roller which is relatively stiff. The stiffness enables you to create good pressure as you roll and the foam coating on the roller feels good. This is the positive.
Negatives unfortunately there are significant negatives for this product that severely hinder it's utility. The construction is cheap something that becomes very apparent with use. The inner shaft is a PVC pipe like you would find at a hardware store with an outer PVC tube (the portion with the nice foam padding) that spins around to create a rolling action. The problem is the Tiger Tail uses a grease lubricant between PVC parts to create a smooth rolling action. This works for the first several times and then degrades with use. It gets less and less smooth with every use and friction continues to build up.
Some of the grease may squeeze out it did for me and this makes a terrible mess (it got all over my shorts and created an unsightly messy stain).
The handles constantly slide outward off the PVC exacerbating the grease lubrication leakage and you are constantly having to twist the handles back into position.
Bottom Line is the Tiger Tail is not worth getting. It is poorly constructed and not suitable for serious use. You should opt for other products. The Stick, another massage roller with many different models (I have 6 different models), functions well forever whereas the Tiger Tail functions worse and worse with every use after about a week.
