I don't leave many reviews, so please be assured I was very impressed with Mirazyme. I spend a lot of time snow skiing and HATE smelly boots. I have very expensive snow and ski boots that had a horrible smell. I take good care of my gear and I use a boot/glove dryer when I'm done for the day. Despite my efforts, my boots smelled like death (think old cast).

For the past several years I have tried everything from intensive cleaning/soaking/scrubbing. Spraying them daily with Lysol, Fabreeze and OderEater type stuff...Nothing worked for long.

I searched online and saw good reviews for MiraZyme. It has worked wonders and will say that my worst boots don't even have a hint of the old odor. It's important to follow the instructions carefully and allow ample time for the product to work.

I use the product in two steps. I mix a diluted formula (about 2oz. into a 5gal bucket of water). For a major cleaning (or first time using Mirazyme). I pull out the laces, liners or foot beds of my boots, shoes, gloves, etc. I then soak them in the bucket solution for 20 minutes. I use a soft scrub brush and scrub all the items to help clean the insides and foot beds. Do not rinse off the solution and let them air dry in room temperature for several days. The product works by enzymatic action and it takes time to break down the organic odor. MiraZyme only has a faint smell that disappears when completely dry. The original boot odor will become less and less over the few days.

I'll use the bucket to clean many pairs of stinky shoes and boots. If the boots are really bad, I've repeated the sequence (complete soak and dry cycle) to ensure I get rid of the odor completely.

I then mix up a large spray bottle with water and 1.5 oz of MiraZyme and occasionally spray my gear to maintain the fresh (no) smell.

To the average person who is looking for a FAST miracle odor remover...This product would only work OK, because it takes time to work. If you spend some effort and follow their instructions, its the best (and only) product I've used to eliminate stubborn odors.

I bought a couple of used sleeping bags off Craig's list, and you guessed it, they reaked of marijuana smoke. I tried washing them with Tide detergent but to no avail. The bottle says to soak the item in the bathtub and then let it air dry. That might work with small items, but with a sleeping bag forget it! It would take about 17 years to air dry. And try getting it outside from the bathtub without soaking your floors. So here's what I did that worked great: I put the sleeping bag in the washing machine (front load only) with detergent, oxy clean, and a few capfulls of this stuff. Then, when the machine added the soap mixture, I stopped the cycle for about 1/2 hour to make sure it soaked well. Then I continued the cycle, and dried the bag in the dryer and presto! It worked! And no chemical smell either. It's really amazing! A product that actually works!

PS: this is my first review, and I'm writing it mainly to tell sleeping bag owners what to do, since there aren't any instructions for that.

I have a pair of Keens that developed a nasty "dead foot" smell and this seems to have done the trick! Be sure to follow the directions....the first time I tried it, I rinsed the shoes before letting them dry, and it didn't work well. When I followed the directions exactly, it worked wonders!

I bought this stuff at my local REI to eliminate the funky moldy smell from a tent that had been shoved into a stuff sack wet and then forgotten once I was home and dry. A little Mirazyme goes a long way; just mix 1/2 ounce in as much as 22 gallons of water/1.5 ounces for 55 gallons. I let it soak for about 15 minutes even though the directions say you only need to soak for 5 minutes. Then I allowed it to air dry and voila--the funk was gone and replaced by a fresh, new-tent smell! It can be used on practically anything that needs to be defunkified. I plan to use it next time my PFD gets that funky river smell. It can even be used on pets! I have a dog with some rather odd skin issues and she gets pretty fragrant. Rather than bathe her every 2 weeks, I have sprayed her with a little diluted Mirazyme solution and she's smelling sweet again! The company's website says that the product "is completely safe for the environment, leaving only carbon dioxide and water as by-products." An environmentally friendly product that is effective--how much better could it be?!

We use this for sports equipment -most notably, baseball cleats.

Works great. Soak the insides with the diluted solution and let them dry overnight (or longer). You need to let it completely dry in order to let the enzymes do their thing. (Noticed a review or two that seemed to write the review immediately after soaking the item and before they had let them dry.)

Seems to work for a long time.

Highly cost effective since you use it very diluted.
