I had purchased Bellwether's Axiom short a few weeks prior to buying the Criterium. The Axiom is an excellent short, and I am very happy with it. I tried the Criterium as it looks very similar and is quite a bit less expensive. On first wearing, I was a bit concerned as there seemed to be a bit of pinching, which was more or less remedied by pulling them up a bit. Since, then I have had no problems whatsoever, they are very comfortable, and I am unable to tell the difference between the two. I am assuming that the initial slight discomfort was due to stiffness of the material, which was completely gone by the second wearing. There is a slight difference between the chamois' and materials used in construction of the shorts, but the comfort seems identical so far. I have worn the Criterium about 5-6 times now, it seems well made with no construction issues. I am 5'10", 163#, 34" waist and the medium although a bit tight in the waist fit better than the large, and has caused no discomfort (other than initially) on long rides. I will be buying more of these.

The shorts are Bellwether quality all the way. They are 8 panel comfort for long rides but seem to run a little small for my liking. They are great if your looking for compression type shorts if you are a large buy the mediums. My large ones that I have had for years were stretched out so I thought I would try the mediums, just a little snug.The sizing chart is a little off in my opinion; I usually wear large but the chart said I should be in a medium (33 waist) but Great quality and price, worth buying them!

These shorts are great, especially considering the price. They are strechable enough for a good fit. They seem durable and well made. The only negative is "made in Taiwan", not USA as other bellwether stuff.
