I have both these and the Icebreaker Men's Hike Trek Crew Socks. Both are fine socks. Both are well made, provide great cushioning, look great, and have a comfortable fit. Both can be used in a business casual environment and perhaps even a business environment without "strict" dress requirements. They are not a 'stretch' fit as are some other socks. They pull on comfortably and can go over a sock liner fairly easily. The Hike Trek sock has a higher Merino wool content than the Mid Crew sock. I judge the Mid Crew a warm sock that works for me with insulated shoes to about 30 degrees F. The Trek sock works with the same insulated shows down at least to 20 degrees F. Haven't had occasion yet to try them at a lower temperature.

Neither is as warm as the old Patagonia Ultra Heavy Weight Expedition socks that are no longer available. The Trek sock is close to the warmth of the Patagonia Expedition Weight Merino Hiking Mid Socks. I haven't compared them side by side closely.

Which to choose? It's really a matter of the desired amount of warmth. I use them both depending upon the outside temperature. If you're also going to be inside a lot, realize that the Trek socks may make your feet warmer (hotter?) than the Mid Crew socks.

Quite happy with these though if you are a 10.5 in mens go for the large I got these in medium and they are snug. Not so snug as I must force them on, but I'm sure large would be more comfortable.

Icebreaker is an example of a great, functional product, with high-quality merino wool. Yes, there are a lot of Merino wool sock/brands out there. I've tried at least six different brands, and the Icebreakers are really the best. I've worn through other sock brand Merino wool outdoor/hiking socks, but these just keep working well without wearing a hole through them.

Yes, they're a bit more expensive, but worth every penny. the socks that are still in my drawer after a lot of use are the Icebreaker's, the other brands have typically worn holes through them.

Used sock liners with these and my feet stayed warm and dry during April hike. Would definitely recommend purchasing again

I got a bunch of these socks a couple of years ago.

Normally I am barefoot a lot of the warm months so I only wear them during cold winter months when the snow is on the ground.

I also wear them inside of my slippers when I am inside.

I bought about 8 pairs.

After only a couple of winter seasons 3 pairs had the seams split where the sections of socks are joined.

5 more of the socks got holes in the front part.

In comparison, I had some Wigwam Ultimax socks that lasted for 8-10 years before needing replacement.

I am extremely disappointed as I had high hopes of them and won't be buying any of these socks for a long while.

Originally I bought these instead of Smart Wools socks because the quality of those had taken a nose dive.

Now I have reversed course on the Smart Wool since they are now made in the US and the quality has seemed to take a leap forward.

I will also be looking back into some Wigwams or Bridgedales.

On the good side, they are really comfortable to wear and my feet don't sweat in them at all.

No problem with icebreaker in general.... I love their long underwear... very very warm and cozy for winter.
