This is a very well made product. I don't have a lot of experience with gaiters, but this is how I would expect them to perform. First, the materials. The nylon used is of a very good quality, it feels quite durable. The elastic at the bottom and mid-calf is very heavy duty. when you put these on they snug up tight to the boot all around it and they snug up to the calf to keep the middle snug to your leg, yet not tight to where you can feel it through your pant leg. I wear a size 9 boot but these should work on bigger sizes as well (this is on a winter hiking boot, not a bulky winter boot with removable liners, i dont think this would fit around those). The zipper is not the best i have seen but it looks and feels more than durable enough. It zips smoothly and easily. I wore these around the house a bit when i first got them and i finally got to test them out this weekend. I did a 5 mile hike through the woods in about 8 inches of snow. My boots and feet stayed dry. Everything covered by the gaiter, including the laces, looked like i never left the house. Bone dry! They did not slip or move around in any way. I did not adjust them once and they were exactly as they were when i first put them on. I did make 2 modifications to this product before testing them out. First, I got the strap that goes under the boot where I wanted it and then i tied it off, cut off the excess string, melted the end and hand stitched the loose ends to the strap so the knots wouldn't come undone. I can then just put it on without having to re-tie this every time and i don't have to worry about it coming untied while hiking and then mess with wet, frozen strings. I also replaced the strings at the top of the gaiter with shoestrings. The string that it came with was kind of slick so i think it would come untied easily and if you have ever tried to tie a bow behind you knee you will see that it is a total pain. The shoestring i replaced it with is a material that you can tie a snug bow in that won't work loose and it is also long enough to wrap around to the front of your leg and tie it there. To replace this i just taped an end of the shoelace to an end of the factory string and pulled it through. Easy and effective. With these gaiters, I got zero snow or moisture down or in my boot and my socks and feet were completely dry and warm. For $19 these things are a very high value product. I am sure there are better gaiters out there, but these are great. They seem like they will last a long time and I can't think of any aspect of performance that was lacking. I highly recommend this product.

I'm using them almost every day as a heating oil delivery driver, needing to pull the delivery hose from the truck to residential tanks, across snow berms at roadside and deep snow in yards. They are good quality, ziper works well, fit well, stays down around boots without tieing to the boot and most important keeps trouser legs dry throughout the work day. These were the least expensive that I found that I also thought would work. Happy with purchase.

Good quality and very functional. As good as my old REI gaiters for less money.

Honest reviews on Liberty Mountain Nylon Gaiter

I bought these to take on a backpacking Elk hunt in Colorado. I needed them to keep rocks and sticks from dropping into my shoes as I climbed through rough terrain. I also needed them to keep the stickers from sticking to my socks and to keep my socks and lower legs dry. I had bought a pair for my son as well. He didn't wear them at first, but after his socks were maxed out with stickers, used them constantly on the second half of the trip. The strongest positives are that they are lightweight, sticker resistant and waterproof. I gave up on tieing the strings under the boot, but just relied on the hook that attached to the shoelace. That worked just fine. These didn't always stay up at the top of my calf, but that wasn't a big requirement for me. Well worth the investment. Glad I did it.

I just came back from a hiking trip where there was a lot of mud on one of the trails & I am kicking myself that I didn't put these on, as my jeans were way covered in mud. I did try them on so what I will say is that the coverage is great. They go on easily. There is a hook that latches to your laces to keep them over your shoes. There is a strap that ties under your boot to keep the gaiters on the boot & in place(others brands have a velcro strap or none at all). They tie at the top to keep them on & in place, as well as elastic half way down and along the bottom edge to keep them tightly on your pants & boots. I am 4'10" & the fit was still great so this is really a one size fits all gaiter no need for different sizes.
