Fits under helmet and goes over the ears (barely). I really like it because it is snug without binding. Had one all last year, and am buying a second because they can get sweaty!

I have a fairly large head and often hats can give me a headache. Not this one. It is soft, flexible and you hardly know you have it on. It keeps you warm and was a great purchase overall.

This hat does what I expected. It keeps my ears warm on cold mornings and my bike helmet still fits fine. It's not overly warm -just right for 40-50 degree biking weather.

Honest reviews on Pearl iZUMi Transfer Hat

I am follicly challenged so I get a headache whenever there is too much wind on my head. Even when it's in the low 60s, I still need some beanie of some sort or I'll get a headache later that night. So when it's even cooler than that, I need good wind protection. I've used other beanies from Gore Bike Wear and Pearl Izumi itself. Those other beanies only have windstopper or barrier material around the forehead and ears, leaving the top non-windproof (to blow of excess heat). For most, I think that would be good but for me, I need the extra wind protection on top as well. I've worn 'thin' winter beanies from say Outdoor Research that are completely windproof (dome included). But these were really intended for other cold weather activity and are very warm, especially for cycling in 50-60F. So use the OR beanie and get too hot, or use the GBW or PI Barrier beanie and get a headache later that night. Not a good situation.

Enter the PI Barrier Hat. I read nothing in the specs that state the dome is made of barrier material (PI's windproof material), but after using it, it sure feels that way. (PI has a Barrier Run hat that clearly states only the front is Barrier material.) I rode with it on two rides, one 40-50F ride and another mid 40s with impending rain. On both rides I felt the wind was kept at bay and my head was nice and warm. Both nights, no headaches. With the ride in the rain, the hat did a good job of shielding me from light drizzle (but ultimately put on my rain jacket/hood when it started to rain harder). I did perspire a bunch, so I wish the material was a little better at wicking away that moisture. But I was certainly glad that it blocked all that wind.

Great cycling hat, may be too warm for some, or even most. Wished it had slightly better wicking capability but its wind blocking capabilities were just what this cold head was looking for! Thanks

So long to bandana worn under my helmet to catch sweat. One less thing to worry about when you decide to take a ride.

Sometimes I forget that I have it on...It's that light.
