If you want protection this is what you were looking for. In the picture here it looks kind of big and not confortable that is just wrong, It is light. Maybe it is a little expensive, but you will see the difference comparing it to a neoprene neck protector. It will help you also to have bounces if you are hit in the neck area.

Overall, it did its job in reducing impact injuries from paintballs. That being said, it is very stiff right out of the box and significantly rubs against your neck the entire time. It also reduces your range of motion to the point where it digs into you throat when looking down to refill your paintball gun hopper, etc. It does work, and perhaps with more use it will loosen up and become more functional and comfortable. However, from my point of view, there are better products on the paintball market.

Being an RN I get VERY nervous with exposed necks and hard paintballs being shot pretty much anywhere, I DO NOT want to take the chance of one of them hitting my sons jugular or carotids so this is well worth the money. He is 11 and it is adjustable, its a bit loose but not uncomfortable, hopefully he can use it for years to come.
