I bought these to replace my SixSixOne Riot knee pads. The EVO knee pads are a lot more flexible than the Riots, but not as flexible as less-protective thin pads that are usually made from layers of neoprene. I also like how the EVO's go on faster/easier than other knee pads I've used/tried, thanks to the single upper thigh strap that's secured by velcro. The extra padding on the sides of the knee pad offer more security against bumping the side of your leg on rocks, tree branches, etc. These are considered "soft shell" pads, which mean they don't use a hard molded plastic cup for protection. However, the D3O pad inside the EVOs are pre-curved and shaped perfectly for the knee area. One cool feature I did notice on the EVO's is that the D3O pad insert can be removed easily from the inside – a good feature when it's time to wash the pads. Finally, the Kevlar material used on the outside area feels really tough and should fair well against abrasion. If I have a mishap where these pads take a hit, I'll update this post (hopefully never!)

I bought these for MTBʻing in Italy. they fit perfect and I canʻt even fell them while Iʻm riding. I had a few spills with them on and they definitely saved my knees. Unfortunately a buddy that I was riding with who had on a different type of knee pads didnʻt fare so well. Iʻd highly recommend the SixSixOne Evo Knee Soft Shell Pad.

These things work great. They get kind of hot and they fit snug but they work great and have saved my knees a few times.

Honest reviews on SixSixOne Evo Knee Soft Shell Pad (Black, Medium)

I had originally ordered some POC VPD 2.0's and found them to be way to hard for my knees. My wife and 5 other friends have the 661 Evo and love them. I should have bought these first. I did a 3 day mountain bike event in these for the first time and they were great. I had minimal rubbing behind my knees. The flexed with my knees and I didn't feel them while pedaling either. I recommend them to anyone that wants great knee protection and low restriction when pedaling up the climbs. The D3O material is a very smart product and puts these ahead of the competition (IMO).
