**Added 1star from 3 stars** As I stated below, I was disappointed in the fit. However, as I remind myself that I only do a handful of multi-sport events, (I have dedicated swim jammers/bike shorts) and I'm not even a top10 AG competitor, this minor hindrance shouldn't get a lower vote. The quality of the material is nice, and I only wear these for race or 'spoil' myself in a training session. Adding a star post-triathlon and I had a PR, and to be less picky where it wasn't warranted.

First let me comment on my built and purpose. I'm a beginner tri athlete, and so after swimming in swim jammers, throwing on my bike shorts over it, then removing that, to then throwing on running shorts. I wanted to up my game with a one garment for all three lowering my Transition times. Plus I wanted pockets, and this has 4.

I'm 5'6 at around 148lbs. I'm typically 30-32 waist, and my thighs aren't small like long distance runners. So bike shorts, swim trunks, I typically get a M, even though most sizing charts would put in me in the small range. I bought these 2XU in Medium, a mistake, too big overall. I'm set to return them and I've purchased and received my Small, of which I would not consider compression at all (I know I'm wearing CW-X compression tights right now). The silicone grip is nice, and the waist is true. But between the bottom grippers and the waist there seems to be a tiny tiny bit of give, which may not be so much of an issue for perhaps someone with same thigh size but maybe taller at 5'8 person. So I'll say, stay away if you you're under 5'6 or if you know your legs are not big.

Some positives, the material itself seems like it can withstand the chlorine and be able dry quick. The stitching and quality of the fabric is solid. The side pockets can fit a gel no problem, but I'm not sure if I'll swim with one in the pocket, it's good just not a super tight fit. The bike pad doesn't seem obtrusive, good for a bike run type of thing. Only guess why there might be some slack is that I'm not the tallest guy around and perhaps it's for the run, which is odd considering 2XU has a lot of running compression products. Good if you're on the bigger/taller side, avoid if you are slim and not too tall, the quality and built is positive in my book.

Ive read some of the other comments on here and quite frankly my opinion of these shorts is quite the opposite. Ive been doing triathlons now for over 4 years. I've tried competitor products such as Zoot and Tyr and find myself coming back to 2xu every time.

For the price I found these shorts to be value for money. I've worn them on Sprint distance tris and even a half ironman. No chaffing issues at all and super comfortable.

I purchased these shorts to do my first Half IM distance triathlon. After completing the race I couldn't be happier. The shorts fit perfect and I ordered them based on the size chart. The material dried quickly and the pad was thick enough to notice extra comfort on the bike, but not to thick to be uncomfortable during the run. I would definitely recommend these shorts to anyone who is looking to compete without worrying about uncomfortable inefficient attire.

Shorts arrived 2 days early, were exactly as described in new package. Smooth transaction.

Have worn the shorts twice, swim/bike/run both times. Just barely discreet enough to wear for training, totally accetpable for racing.

I bought these while training for my first sprint tri. They fit great and I was very happy with them. The padding for the bike is very minimal and didn't affect me in the running or the swimming, but makes that little bit of difference on the bike. the material feels like its going to hold up well. The top is drawstring and not elastic and allows for a little give. The only issue i feel is that it does ride a little low in the back so I might be showing a bit of crack when on the bike (but that might be my fault!). For reference I am 6'3, 285lbs. I wear a size 40 pants with a 32 inseam.
