I read through all of the other reviews and many people complained about how small it was. It is a rash guard and fits like a compression rash guard is intended to fit. I am 6'2" and 180 lbs. I ordered the XL due to all of the people complaining about how tight it was. When wet, it is a little too baggy. Let me be clear, this is still skin tight, but too stretchy when wet. If you are getting this for protection from the sun and you have a bit of "extra" flesh, you should get a much bigger size. However, if you are fit and want this for surfing, swimming, or under a wetsuit, get your typical size.
FYI it feels much tighter dry than it does wet. If you think it feels too tight at first, take a shower with it and then decide.

If you are in decent shape, go one size up and it will be great (personally, I feel one size up fits just a little loose and I'm a big dude). If you are overweight, than it should be two sizes up. Judge the rash guard by how it fits wet not how it fits dry. It should be snug WET--like a second skin. I bought two. My only complaint is the size of the obnoxious new logo. I have used O'neill for a long time, I lived and surfed in Santa Cruz but I miss the "old school", discreet surfer dude graphic and exact sizing before they sold the farm (no longer local, now in Mexico I heard).

I went with a medium. Sometimes large shirts fit me. Sometimes medium. I have another O'Neill rash guard that's large. This one fits tighter and therefor fits better.
