I have bought the shirt and matching pants in 2009 and have taken them on a 20-day trek in the Himalayas, keeping them on non-stop for a week due to the cold weather and a lack of taste for freezing showers! They never got smelly and were the single most important piece of clothing in my layering system: I felt more comfortable with only that base layer and a fleece, than with a cotton t-shirt (which absorbs sweat and takes ages to dry), a fleece and a hard-shell. Versatility is off-the-charts: I have been wearing the shirt alone on hot approach days in the Andes (as sun protection mostly), or under several extra layers for summit days above 22,000 feet. Quality is excellent and these items are on my all-time list of best buys!

These Lifa shirt and pants are great as long underwear in skiing weather and work wonderfully as long, well garments, just to wear in cool weather, or underneath in cool weather. You can certainly wear the tops anytime!

Im about 6ft and 220lbs.

The XL is the correct size for me but it is somewhat tight in the shoulder area. Im outside all the time and this will be a good piece from 40-65 deg. Fahrenheit. A steal at 22$

Looks good too.

I use those when I go skiing in Tahoe.. Put that on, a light North Face on top and your jacket and you will be able to withstand pretty harsh cold. The sweat is evacuated quickly so you don't get cold when you stop skiing and cool down. Helly Hansen has been doing those stuff for dozens of years honestly and it's a trusted brand that I really enjoy. Totally worth it.

First of all, the stripes on the arms are uglier than expected, so you won't want them to show. Secondly, the polypropylene has a few disadvantages it generates a lot of static electricity when taking things off, and it doesn't feel that good against the skin when sweating. I was happy enough with the leggings in the same fabric, since all of these problems seem less of an issue. There are better baselayers around, some of them quite a lot cheaper.
