I bought a pair of these Pearl Izumi wool socks for bicycling in wet weather. I am now a daily bicycle commuter, in all weather. Cotton socks in wet weather are bad news, so I got these and have used them several times riding in the rain. They are very tight on me. I got XL and I wear shoe size 10.5. Once they are on, they feel okay, but they are very tight and a chore to get on. They are also very thin material, so they are only useful for wet weather cycling when it is warm out.
Since I got these, I have also bought SmartWool hiking socks in light and medium weight merino wool material. I love the SmartWool and will be using it from here on out, even in warm wet weather. These PI's will sit at the bottom of the sock drawer.
On the plus side, these have held up well to several machine washings for me. They dry out well if left overnight to air dry. I would rate them "good" for durability.
If you want tight, thin wool socks for warm weather long rides or events, these might work well for you. You will want something else for cold weather or if you want something more comfortable to put on and wear.

I love these socks. The look good, they feel great. My feet stay comfortable in the hot or cold. I've worn them in temps from 12F to 90F. Feet are happy. Don't count on these to keep your lil' pigs warm all on their own in the winter but they're still better than cotton/spandex socks.Only complaint is that they're a little snug. I'm a US Size 12 shoe and I just squeeze my feet into the XL size.
I'll buy again when this pair wears out.
