The latest trend in athletics, especially running and cycling, are these compression recovery clothing items. I own a few pairs of compression/recovery socks, and it's hard to tell if it's doing anything for actual recovery. These tights, on the other hand, are something different. The compression goes all the way up your legs to your waist, so it feels a lot better than just a sock up to the knee. I put these on after a long bike ride, and my legs feel a lot better. Normally, I feel "shaky" and wobbly for a bit after a hard ride, but putting these on seems to cradle my legs and make me feel better, more quickly. It's hard to say if I recover more, or better, for another ride the next day, but the day I'm wearing them it feels a lot better.
One small complaint is that (on me at least), they tend to ride down a little bit if I'm doing a lot of moving around, or bending. The material is very slippery, and since it is stretched out, it is probably trying to slide back to a less stretched position. If I'm wearing clothes over these tights, it gets tricky, having to pull them up over my clothes. But it's a minor issue, nothing that stops me from appreciating these tights.
One last note, the picture shown in the description is not what I received. Mine are all black, with red stitching, there is no gray anywhere on the tights...not sure if it was just the ones I ordered, but I actually like it better. I look a little bit like a red TRON from the waist down, haha!

I run about 20 miles a week on average. I had heard a lot of rave reviews on compression gear for recovery post-workout. I decided to try these because 1) they're specifically marketed for recovery, and 2) they're not as expensive as other compression pants. Overall, I've been pleased: my legs feel "fresher" when I wear them after a run. My only real "knock" against these pants is the stitching around the knee. If not situated just right, the stitching will irritate your knee.For me, my lower leg (calves and shin) generally feel sorer after running. For that reason, I bought some compression sleeves for my lower legs and I found those work just as well, and at about 30% less cost. These pants are also hotter than wearing just sleeves, so in the summer I'll definetly buy another pair of the sleeves or two.
I'd recommend trying the sleeves first (or compression shorts if that's more of your problem areas with soreness). These pants work well, they're a little expensive. The extra layer won't be an issue during the winter, but in the warmer seasons I'd rather have just the sleeves.

I was hoping this would be a step up from wearing compression socks, but they did very little for me. I bike around 5 times per week, and when I ride anything more than 50-60 miles, compression socks really help me quite a bit with the recovery. Specifically, Miracle Socks sold here at Amazon.com are the ones I use. They are awesome, and for only around $10.00.Back to the McDavids-There was very little compression in the calf area, but the waist felt really tight. Basically, it was just too uncomfortable to wear, so I gave up on them. On a positive note, they were very well constructed, and are made in USA. You can see the quality in the fabric and stitching.
