This is my very first wetsuit so I really don't have any previous experience and therefore can't compare with other brands/types but my impressions are very positive for this one , I decided to get one to extend my kayaking season well into the winter cold and buying a drysuit was completely out of my budget so after some research this one seemed perfect ; 7mm thick and the John type will allow my arms to move freely , the sizing guide was spot on (XXL for me ) I was dreading to get into it the first time thinking it was going to be a really tight squeeze but it was really easy to put on/take off !
I am still getting used to the sensation of being wet while staying perfectly warm on very cold water , I have used it on 40 degree weather so far and I am confident to use it on colder days , and for those freezing days ahead I plan on getting the companion Jacket to make a complete suit , now i am ready to paddle year round :)

I like the Velcro-style shoulder this model has. It help a lot to donne the wet suit. I used in conjuction with the step-in wet suit, both together provide extreme protection in cold water. Need some practice to wear the step-in wet suit over the John, but learned with practice.Bottom line, quality is high and I recomend for somebody willing to swin or dive in cold water (below 50 F).

The thick rubber is for deep ocean diving, not for a swimming pool. Although it does keep you warm, it also makes you float on your back, and you can't turn over or move. It is scary. I had to have someone with me to pull the suit off before I could get out of the pool. In addition, it is so very unflexible that a woman or man with curves can not wear this suit. I had to make slashes it it so my hips could fit. Three X large is more like a one extra large, so they run small. Very tight. Also, it is for tall people, not short.
