I left these sitting on the roof of my car again and am purchasing my third pair. I love the lightweight feel. They breath great, fit great, and give you a really nice feel on the bike. The padding placement isn't designed to help with handle bar vibration, but there is more padding toward the lower inside part of my palm. I crashed bare handed one day after losing these the first time, and turns out the damage was all done under where the padding would have been.

Pros:

Great feel of the bike

Protection for minor Crashes, minor handlebar irritation

Lightweight and breathable

Not for you:

If you're looking for something to absorb handle bar vibration

If you have serious crash potential (Downhill or what not)

Cons: The rubber paneling on the back of the hand has a tendency to start peeling off, but I haven't had any issues on the functional parts of the glove. I haven't managed to keep the same pair for more than a season or two, but a few reviews have mentioned they fall apart. I suspect this may partly be a result of them running a small so fitting to tight and stressing the material. So if in doubt order up. Also, they are a light weight glove that you shouldn't expect to last as long as something heavier, but I am willing to trade that for the excellent fit and feel of these gloves.

Size reference: I'm a guy who doesn't have big hands, but not super small either, so I debate between medium and large gloves. Went with large. Definition of "fits like a glove." I also just measured and Amazon's size chart says I should order a medium, (I measure 8.5" around my knuckles) so safe to say that these run a size small.

About my riding habits: Consider me on the casual end of serious mountain bikers. I generally ride cross-country trails mountain only. I only get in a ride every other week or so in an area with an 8 month riding season.

These gloves are great!! I had an older pair of Giro that were wore down and decided to stick with Giro again after I tried a pair of Fox gloves. The Fox gloves are to thin on the top portion the fingers and offer little to no protection for that glove. These Giro's are lighter gloves and I was worried about that at first. I ride a single track trail in the SW and riding through heavy brush on a small portion of the trail. You need as much protection as possible. These gloves offer the protection and style I was looking for. And the best part of it I can use my smartphone while wearing them.

Even ride my Yamaha Bolt with these bad boys. Worth every dime in my opinion. Lets my hands breathe.

Honest reviews on Giro Xen Gloves

I've taken about 4 or 5 rides with these now and really like the fit, features and style. They keep my hands cool on the climbs and covered on the downs, have great grips on the first two fingers, pads on the palms and of course, full coverage. Highly recommended, although I can't speak to their lasting quality.

The Xen is basically the Bravo with full fingers. The fit and features are identical to the Bravo. Fit is true to size.

The material is thin. Padding is present, but thin. The padding along the bottom of the hand is placed well. This would not be a good AM/DH glove if you crash a lot, but it is good for XC.

Living in the south, we have a lot of humidity in the summer. This glove quickly soaks through. This can cause some friction and irritation at the base of my fingers. All of my gloves do this to some extent in the summer.

The supposedly smartphone friendly index finger doesn't work any worse or better with a smartphone than the Specialized gloves I have (without a special fingertip). Ungloved, dry fingertips work best.

For the price, this is a decent glove, and I recommend it.
