In my experience, Cold Steels Inferno brand spray is (IMHO) the best defense spray available to non-Law Enforcement individuals because of the added black pepper oil. It really does make the attacker sneeze violently, thus sucking more and more spray deep into lung tissue usually not reached by other sprays. In my direct experience an attacker sprayed with 2 quick bursts of inferno was unable to continue an attack because (specifically) they cannot see, their face, eyes, throat, and lungs burn with great ferocity, they involuntarily vomit and sneeze over and over (when you sneeze your eyes involuntarily close, AND ----rapid-fire sneezing, vomiting and restricted breathing not from dangerous swelling, but from the raw pain of having strong irritants drawn deep into the most sensitive parts of the lungs ----Tend to cause hyperventilation and the light-headedness and disorientation that comes with it). In addition, the large unit sprays out more volume with more force at a greater distance than the "pocket" models are able to, so it's able to bypass protection like hoods or glasses and so gives citizens a real fighting chance to prevail against multiple, physically strong and/or heavily intoxicated, or (ONLY in DESPERATE situations) even armed assailants. It's a little inconvenient to carry, but worth the trouble especially for night workers. IMHO Only a Taser or sidearm is more effective and the average wait-person (or other night-worker) can't afford a Taser or sidearm as easily as this model Inferno spray.Friday, May 2, 2014
Discount Cold Steel Inferno 10.5 oz. (300 gram unit) Pepper Spray
This stuff takes about 2-3 seconds to take full effect on a person. Once it does though, they will definately be incapacitated. Very hard to breath and eyes burn badly, even worse when trying to keep them open. If able to keep them open the tears keep one from having any clear vision what so ever. Skin burns but not near as bad as the pain on the eyes and throat. Had to hose face down with waterhose for almost 35 minutes to get the pain to "begin" to dissipate. Breathing and vision began to return to normal in about the same time. Cant imagine having to wait for this stuff to dissipate on its own. Oh, by the way this was a from a 2 second burst at about 6 feet that hit the target just under his chin and then swept up to face along one side. This was the first time to spary it so I wasnt sure where to aim it. It fires a little low from intended point of aim. Consistancy of foam was about the same as "watered down shaving cream"...lol... It came out in a spray form that seamed to have a consentrated cone in the center about 4-5 inches wide. As cold steel shows in thier videos, the idea is to spray and move. If you are able to avoid the initial attack from someone or something then the spray would take over and you would be able to run or secure the threat. Hope this helps.....
