Brilliant jacket, layers really well with other pieces and just the best quality. To be honest there is not much else to be said, I have tried other kit, and some are good too, but the cut and fit and detail that goes into Arc'teryx gear is always just top notch, you will not be let down by this piece of equipment.

I can't even express how much I love this jacket. It poured the first weekend I wore it in San Francisco and I didn't get a drop on my shirt underneath. The hood is really nice as well, and has never blown off from the wind like other jackets I own. It keeps me warm, but not too warm. I can go in between in and outside and it maintains my body temperature perfectly.

I use this jacket in two ways. The first as the outside layer over my Atom LT when I go to my office job M-F in the winter. With my dress shirts, this combination keeps me warm. The second is when I'm doing any outside activity, this goes in my bag and is used when I'm getting cold. When I'm hiking in cold/windy weather, this thing keeps me regulated incredibly well. The wind mostly stays out; if I'm running warm, I just unzip some of the pockets and my temperature stays comfortable. The storm hood also stays secure and keeps me warm, without decreasing my head movement much. I also stay pretty dry. Great pockets and zips to secure the jacket in various places (e.g. hood, waist). It also keeps light precipitation out. I'm pretty amazed by this jacket and how it keeps my temperature nice while we're working out in the Rockies!

We paid a lot of money for this tech shell, didn't we? I'm torn as to whether or not to rate it lower, or leave it alone and rate it higher. Hear me out. Whenever I see "moisture resistant" or "water repellant".. I know that's not the same as WATER PROOF, but come on.. I expect at least SOME resistance!! And I simply have not seen it. Sure, if its a light sprinkle, and I do mean LIGHT, like the kind where it's more of a mist than sprinkle or rain, yea, the water will "bead." But allow it to sit, like say.. In a crease or something if you happen to be sitting, and it will start to soak through eventually. We were in Orlando for a family vacation back in June, universal studios, and on this day it was a torrential downpour. Gave this jacket to my girlfriend to wear, keep her dry and warm, chivalry, the ladies love that s***.. Bad move. She was soaked to the bone and a little put off by the time we got out of the park. Made the comment something along the lines of.. Would've been better off not wearing the jacket at all bc now they were BOTH wet. Poor girl. She was a good sport during the event and walked under a run off stream of rain from one of the awnings to prove her point.. Yep, water all up in the inside of the hood. So, all of that being said.. On a cold day in Iraq back in December/January, with a moisture wicking t shirt base layer and a long sleeve, breathable light weight collared shirt, both by Columbia i believe, I was plenty warm. So it can do at least that part of its job. But the "water resistant" durable finish or whatever the crap they call it, experiences may vary. In mine, you get wet. Oh, and the sleeves openings are REALLy tight. Good lord! I wear a suunto Core watch when I'm working overseas. Average watch face size right? Maybe a little larger lol. But getting the cuff over the watch, even just to check the time.. Some amount of pain and skin was exchanged every.single.time. Put your watch on AFTER your jacket and just be content to wear it on the outside as long as you have the jacket on.
