I have two set of other wool riding sock made by Defeet and a LBS branded set, and the Peral Izumi are the winners.

Fit and Performance:

They are cut perfectly. They warp my feet and calves nicely with a thin layer of (soft) Merino wool that provides awesome warmth without being bulky in the shoes. Since they are so thin, if needed, you could throw a second set on for those extra chilly morning rides. The elastic is not too tight, so no gnarly sock marks are left. These do not hold onto water and I never end a ride with wet feet.

Listed sizes were true, for me at least.

Wash and Drying

I wash them on a very short, extremely delicate cycle using non-additive detergent with my other riding clothes after each ride. I also dry them on delicate dry cycle for 10 minutes and hang dry, just like the rest of my riding clothes. I've washed and dried them easily a dozen times and they look and feel brand new.

These socks are great, have worn them on 38 degree rides and 85 degree rides, my feet stay dry and comfortable. I've bought three pairs now and I'll probably buy more of the lower cut ones next.

Very comfortable and thin. Not quite as warm as I was anticipating, but thin enough to allow for layering. I wish my entire sock drawer was full of these!

These are great cool and cold weather cycling socks. The thing that annoys most about socks and cycling is the seams around the toe area if you can feel it, it will probably really annoy you in 20 miles. These have 'un-noticable' seams which also will help prevent blisters at those locations. I have a lot of Pearl Izumi gear, and it is clear they have actual cyclists on their design team!
