I purchased this headband in hopes that it would provide some relief from my excessive sweating here in Arkansas when I ride my bike. I can't even use a helmet since I sweat so much I'm having to stop and wipe my eyes and glasses so I can see.

While this band is not perfect, it is better than wearing nothing or a regular sweatband. My problem is that I have a wide forehead and the ends of the gutr stops before the edge of my eyes. So when I'm bent over peddling, the sweat falls FORWARD into my glasses and consequently into my eyes. If the gutr would extend two more inches to the back, they would empty behind my ears. While the system does work, it has its limitations for us big 'noggin's

I hope they use this information and improve the product, then, I think, it will be a five-star product.

Have tried numerous head bands over the years and the Gutr is the best by far. It is basically a thin rubber like strap with a lip (gutter) that catches sweat running off your forehead and channels it down the sides of your face so that it does not get in your eyes.

It is very light weight and has a low profile. It is thin all the way around and not wider than your smallest finger. This combination is a must have for cyclists because it also does not interfere with your helmet. It attaches in the back with a simple pony tail style rubber band and velcro adjustment for a custom fit.

Because they are not made of fabric they don't saturate with sweat meaning that if you sweat a lot or exercise for a long period it still functions without dripping in your eyes later on. (I have some head bands made of wicking material that I really like but even they quit working for me after a long work out.) You also don't have to wash this head band just rinse it off.

Minor drawbacks are that you can't easily adjust the fit while exercising. The trick is to get it where you like it and leave it that way. When you first try it you want to make it overly tight but you'll discover that it stays put without needing a lot of tension too much tension just causes a headache. If you're a cyclist you will probably want to loosen your helment band to acommodate the strap underneath the back of your helmet as well if you don't the band will rest uncomfortably on your ears after a long ride.

Bottom line Sweat Gutr was comfortable and solved my problem of sweat obscuring my glasses when I bike.

I bike-commute to work once or twice a week. In warm weather, I sweat a lot, and by the end of my 50 minute commute, my sunglasses have enough sweat on them that I can't see through them very well. So I looked for a sweatband that would fit under my bike helmet and wouldn't make me even warmer.

I got the Sweat Gutr sweatband just before this summer's RAIN Ride (Ride Across INdiana) I got a free sample in return for promising to review it after the ride, thanks to on old offer on crazyguyonabike.com . That one-day, 160 mile ride was the first time I used it. It was very easy to adjust to fit. It was quite comfortable I didn't notice I was wearing it except when I took off my helmet. I had no trouble with sweat on my glasses or in my eyes, but the day wasn't especially hot, so I figured I'd write this review after some warmer commutes.

Well, I've used it for a month now, including several commutes in humid, 95+ degree weather (one of the hottest weeks we've had for years here in Indiana), and I haven't gotten a drop of sweat on my sunglasses. I've had a bit get in my eyes from dipping my head late in my ride, as my eyes suddenly become down-slope of the sweat coming down the sides of my face (redirected there by the Gutr). That may not be a problem if you don't ride with your hands in the low end of your road-bike handlebars ("in the drops"), but I keep pretty low on the bike and tend to dip my head to relax my neck or get more aerodynamic when I'm tired.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Sweat Gutr, and expect to use it on all my warm weather rides. It's very quick and easy to clean, too, and looks like it will last for years.

I am perpetually in need of a "better" headband to keep sweat out of my eyes during long rides in the south Texas heat and humidity. My bad experience with the Gutr started from the very beginning. The unit is made from a soft plastic, and it includes three elastic bands that attach to the unit and provide a "snugging" mechanism to keep it in place. I wear a size 7.5 hat, and the largest band was too snug for a comfortable fit. However, I persisted...

The next step in the fitting process is to make sure that the unit is appropriately integrated with your helmet. Here is where the fun really begins. With the Gutr at a "natural" feeling position on my forehead (or as natural as it gets), it pushed my helmet quite a bit higher on my forehead than seemed prudent. I did manage to get the Gutr to a position that wasn't TOO distracting by putting its top lip underneath the bottom of my helmet, but that leads to the next issue...

On charity rides, I try to keep up with the "hammerheads" as long as possible from the start. At some point, usually less than 10 miles into a 60 mile ride, it becomes just too much effort to hang-on, and I drop back to a more sustainable pace for the remainder of the ride. Unfortunately, this means that I usually break into a sweat relatively early in a ride, despite the cooler temperatures. Here is where Gutr really let me down. Because it really isn't suitable to replace the sizing pads in my helmet, I still have to use the pads in my helmet. As a result, they absorb sweat and release it down and over the Gutr. Back to being blinded and getting my cycling glasses clouded with salt.

The product may work as intended if I remove the pads from my helmet, but really, I'd rather have my helmet work correctly (I've cracked a couple over the years and won't ride without one). Fortunately, I had shoved my "least hated" headband in my jersey pocket, so that I could swap the Gutr out for it at the first rest stop.

My final dislike of the product? Did I mention that it was plastic? There was a thin strip of my head that really got warm underneath Gutr, ironically causing more sweat underneath and immediately below it.

So, would I recoomend Gutr? No. I am comfortable with the idea that some people may like it, especially if it fits their heads and helmets. However, I was not able to find a good fit, and as a result, I did not find it particularly effective. I also found the product somewhat self-defeating because of the material from which it is manufactured. For me, a fabric sweatband that I can wring out every 10 15 miles outperforms it and is more comfortable.

Ordered the GUTR for riding in Houston TX when it is 95 degrees out and 114% humidity. Now some might say that 100% is the maximum amount on the humidity scale. But those people have not ridden in Houston TX on a day like today. In October. Yes.

As other reviews, GUTR is a little rain gutter for your forehead. It is comfortable, and with three sizes of elastic stretch bands I was able to fit my watermelon-sized noggin. It is not noticeable under a helmet, but would probably look pretty dorky without.

It kept most, but not all the sweat off my eyes. Apparently I also sweat via my eyebrows or something. Not perfect, but at least I could see where I was going for once.

Only improvement I'd make is to add a little downspout and filter so one could recycle one's water and electrolytes a la the Stilsuit in Dune. Otherwise, it does the best it can.
