Okay, first of all I should put it out there that I'm a man, and while I'm quite androgynous and buy plenty of womens' tees and such, I never really review them, as it feels a bit off to me. But there aren't any reviews here, and the fabric in this sort of a garment seems to be its selling point, which I think is fair for me to comment on while avoiding fit, etc.
I've been looking for a while now for some really thin, cool shirts for this increasingly unbearable summer. Macy's/Weatherproof had a (seemingly discontinued) line of incredibly thin shirts that really felt cool, and I have been unable to find anything comparable. Fabric weights are not particularly meaningful to me yet, as very few companies advertise this. Micropoly should theoretically be quite thin (or, is capable of being quite thin), which was one reason I took a stab at this shirt.
The shirt is two layers in kind of a meshy, woven configuration. It's hard to see in the product photo (well, I can't see it at all), but the shirt is definitely textured. I don't know if the reported 130g/m^2 weight is the single ply of fabric, or the overall weight again, I'm just starting to try to figure out fabric weights. In the double-ply construction, however, this shirt is heavy. Feels heavier than most of my basic cotton tees, heavier than poly/cotton blends as well. I warm up quite quickly in this shirt. I'm a very temperature sensitive person, I just get hot quickly and feel awful for it. That is different from the presumably intended 'sport' use of this material, I suppose, which involves wicking sweat away from the body and the like. Sustaining a temperature longer, perhaps. But as far as just being a lightweight, cool to wear shirt this material fails.
Now, the shirt is well constructed, and a lovely color (tiny bit brighter in person, perhaps), so it will get worn. But it doesn't do what I had hoped, and while that might be my egregious misreading/understanding of the product, the product information gives little to go on. I'm still searching for my perfect lightweight tee, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to someone looking for a heavier exercise type top.
