I was in search for a good, high quality jacket, for these cold NYC winters. I owned a marmot parka but never used it and it was way to big, since I lost weight over the year I returned it. My old North Face parka collecting dust after years of non use, reasons, too big and heavy. Then I came upon the Canada Goose brand, I did some research on the Canada Goose brand, went to the official website and I was interested in buying one. The only con I see in Canada Goose is that they use real fur on the hooded part,I am for animal rights, I was 50/50 on purchasing this jacket. After much consideration I went ahead and purchased the Bomber Jacket. I ordered a large size, I am 5'11 about 180lbs. The jacket fits perfectly. Its light weight not as heavy as the old jackets I used to have, I wanna say this jacket is even warmer, just a shirt underneath. I love it so far. I recommend getting one.

I bought one of these on my trip to Canada earlier in the year. I needed a really warm coat and all the canadians use this brand for a very good reason I'm sure. I chose the bomber because I needed a short coat.

This coat, as I'm sure all the coats from canada goose are ridiculously warm. As the other reviewer said you can simply wear one shirt underneath for me even in temperatures down to about -2C.

The only problem I have with this jacket is the hood, which simply falls off my head. Doesn't even have to be that windy. it even falls off as I'm walking. I'm only 5'2" so I bought the XS, which fits me perfectly across the chest and waist. The hood seems like it only comes in one size and they put the largest possible size on it. Even if you use the tightening strap it doesn't hold the hood to my head. There's no strap across the front or around the head to tighten there is a metal frame inside the hood that keeps it's shape but that does nothing to hold it to my head.

So I contacted Canada goose Europe (because I'm uk based) and their response was that the issue I have seems to be part of the design and they suggest I wear a beanie hat instead. I also tried contacting the main office in Canada but have yet to receive a positive response from there either.

Now I'm feeling a little cheated. Considering it is such a good coat and I paid so much money for it, it seems so badly let down by the design of the hood. I can't really take it back because the trip itself would cost me enough for a new coat.

I've now twisted the fasteners at the front of the hood in an effort to make the hood smaller and hopefully causing the hood to hold on. However this has now caused the look of the jacket a little wanting and not worth the money I paid for it. Shame.

Maybe the issue is with the size of the jacket in relation to the hood.

Maybe the wrong hood was put onto my XS sized jacket.

Maybe the Canadians are looking into the issue and will eventually get back to me.

Maybe I suggest people look at a different jacket to buy.

UPDATE:

The Canadian office did came back to me. They thanked me for my feedback and had passed the info to their product development team. However, didn't respond when I told them I was hoping for a resolution to the problem with my coat.

The twisting of the hood snaps, which causes the hood to shrink down a bit, and pulling the tightening strap as short as it will go is holding the hood firm to my head but since the hood no longer provides a neat seal around the chin area you get a bit of a chilly cheek if the wind gets through. this is better than nothing and provides the warmth I need on the top.

I guess I'll be more attentative about the hood when choosing a jacket next time.

I ordered one in XS (I am 167cm of height with normal armlength/proportion for that height) but for me the sleeves were quite to long. As there are no laces on the hood, you cant tighten it when its stormy. I sent it back as the sleeves made the jacket look bad on me.
