Warmth: This coat is very warm. This is both a pro and a con, however. For me, the coat was simply TOO warm to wear inside, even for a few minutes. This was impractical for shopping or any activity that required me to be going outside to inside. On the flipsid, if I was lookng for an "extreme" outdoor coat, I think CG makes models that are more practical than the Banff.
Style: Obviously a personal thing, but I found the jacket very stylish. I loved the look of the buttons. I HATED the practicality, or lack thereof, of the buttons. Buttoning and unbuttoning was a chore. It really was. And yes, you could simply leave the buttons undone, but that made the jacket look sloppy to me. Even using the pockets required you to get through a button. In the store you button it u, it looks great and you don't think about anything more about it. In real life, I found it to be a pain so like about it before you buy.
Collar: The collar doesn't zip up. I didn't think much of it until I wore the jacket outside. Then it was a problem for me. The jacket doesn'tkeep you warm outside with the neck so open. So, either I had to have the hood attachement fastened (which is big and bulky and overkill for most days) or I had to wear a scarf. I don't want to wear a scarf, and with the zip up collar I had on my old jacke I didn't need one.
Sizing & weight: The coat fits "slim" as the sizing indicates. Depending on how tight you like your coats, you will be ne size up from what you normally wear. I found it also made the coat warmer and, to an extent, a bit restrictive for movement. Also, this coat, like most Canada Goose models, is a bit heavy. I guess you should expect that in a heavy duty parka, but be warned.
So overall, I think it is a great looking, well made jacket. The problem, in my opinion, is that it is too warm and, with the buttons, too impractical to be a versatile "city" coat. Conversely, with the open neck it really isn't the best "hard weather" coat CG makes either. If you want a city coat the "Burnett" is a better bet, and if you want an oudoor coat the Constable and Expedition are probably more practical.

The reason I bought this Parka is that it has buttons, so you do not have to fiddle with a zipper. It also is all down, no feathers. For many reasons It is the best parka on the market today.Best Deals for Canada Goose Banff Parka
This past fall I was in desperate need of a new winter jacket! There are certainly a lot of choices out there, from numerous brands and designers. I wanted something functional but also stylish and reasonably fashionable. I'm well aware of what many of the well known brands offer such as North Face, Arcteryx, etc. They all certainly make an excellent jacket/parka of varying sorts, that are quite functional, but unfortunately lack in style what they afford in function.I live in northern Vermont, and so needed a jacket that could withstand temps that may range anywhere between below zero and the 20s. I have plenty of outerwear for active outdoor activities...which works great, but only when you're active. I wanted a jacket that could keep me warm, period, for everyday use, without having to generate a certain amount of METS just to accomplish the task of staying warm.
I searched far and wide, and in the end, ended up with Canada Goose, and I couldn't be happier! The Banff parka is simply the best parka I've ever owned. It is the perfect blend of form and function, without compromising style. I've gotten innumerable complements and queries about this coat...none of which I expected and frankly am amazed. But when people see it, particularly those that recognize a quality product, they comment on it.
The black parka is very handsome looking, with it's military-type style, especially contrasted against the color of the coyote fur along the hood. I bought a medium, although I wear large in all other coats, jackets, pullovers, etc. I chose a medium after reading several reviews regarding the sizing. The medium fits perfectly! Without that puffy look that so many generic parkas have. This parka is nothing but quality in its craftsmanship from the leather trim, to the buttons, the zipper, and the hood accented with what is incredibly functional coyote fur! I was pleasantly surprised to see that there are actually two sets of pockets in the front, one with flaps that button, and fleece lined angled slip pockets for your hands when you're walking or just standing around. I'll admit I hemmed and hawed about spending $700 plus dollars for a jacket! But after saving up some gift money from around the holidays, I took the plunge and couldn't be happier with my purchase...it was soooo worth it. I ended up getting the cost the week before we got hit with an arctic blast of frigid air that lasted for about a week. The temps ranged from between 5 below and 5 above zero. And the cost functioned exactly as advertised! I was completely warm just standing around!
Keep in mind that the zipper stops at the bottom of your neck, so that if there is a wind, air can get in through the top of the jacket. But if worn with a scarf, all is good, and it just adds to the style. But the best thing is that if you put on the hood and button the flaps that come together in front of the neck, it doesn't matter what the temp or wind conditions are, that is one toasty warm jacket! You don't feel anything but warm! I was out today with temps in the low teens and wind chills approaching zero and I felt none of it.
I like clothes and fashion, but have never been as excited about a clothing product as I am about this Candan Goose Banff Parka! Is it likely a bit over priced?...probably...but if you're in the market for a high end, quality product that actually does what it says, and looks good to boot, you won't be disappointed!
