I bought two of these shirts in ivory/white to wear as undershirts under my dress shirts. They are incredibly comfortable (no itch and light weight) and I actually forget that I am wearing one. Perfect weight to wear as a base layer. While they are not visible through a white dress shirt, the color is not white, so if you are concerned about that (open collar shirt for example) then this might not be a good solution for you. Best of all, they remain completely odor-free and wrinkle-free, even if worn for a whole work week. I was skeptical about others who claimed that merino wool does not retain odors, because I am extremely particular about being clean and not smelling bad, but other reviewers who made that claim were right. They are trim cut, so allow for that (I usually wear large in regular undershirts and wear an X-Large in this shirt). I've washed them a few times so far (wool cycle, cold water, Woolite) and hang them up to dry, and there is no pilling or signs of wear, and they are holding their shape very well. They also dry in just a few hours, which is handy. After wearing these shirts, I don't think I can ever go back to my old cotton undershirts again; in fact I'm getting rid of all of them to free up space in my dresser drawers!

It's a light gray. When worn under a white dress shirt, it reads as dirty gray. Maybe you won't mind that, but if you're expecting a cottony white, this shirt is a disappointment. They really shouldn't advertise it as white. Ecru or something would be fair. But it's not white.
