These cycling shorts are made from a light polyester-like fabric and sport a single zippered pocket. These shorts include the Pearl Izumi Men's Liner Short which can be purchased separately. The shorts are reasonably priced when you consider the cost of the liners.

The material is light but stays in place as you ride. The amount of material is not skintight nor saggy & rarely gets caught on my saddle. The single zippered pocket is ample enough to hold a medium wallet (located on the lower portion of the right leg) Edit: The single, limited pocket is the worst of these shorts. More pockets in other locations would have been very desirable. Limit what you carry or store stuff elsewhere with these.

The elastic waistband adjusts with several buttons on each side of the shorts. A pair of loops inside the waistband clip to the short liners (to avoid sagging?) I purchased a medium size for an approx. 35" waist and only a minor adjustment to the waistband was needed. Edit: Check the other reviews for sizing advice. Some say the shorts run a bit large.

The padded liner portion of the shorts are definitely the highlight of the product and I suggest you check out those independent reviews (search Pearl Izumi Men's Liner Short). The existing user reviews on the liners are very clear and constructive. I will be purchasing more of the liners in the near future they work well with other shorts.

OK, so I'm 5'-10" and I normally wear a size 36 in Levi's jeans and sometimes a 34 in store brand casual shorts. I ordered a size L in these Pearl Izumi shorts and perhaps wish that I'd ordered a size M. The "cinch" elastic waist is adequate to hold the shorts up, but I fear that they make my ass look 'baggy'. I love the fabric, actually the fabric is totally awesome. I wish that they had more pockets, then I'd wear them almost every day. The one zipper pocket is good, you won't loose your stuff, but will only hold a car key or similar. These shorts are long and will probably cover your knees unless you are 6-foot tall or taller (I'm 5-10). I thought the color would be more like khakki (tan) but it is sort-of a cross between khakki-tan-green. Overall, I'm pleased with the sorts. I have used the padded liner for biking and it seems quite adequate.

I started biking for fitness 2 months ago. I started with standard cotton shorts and t-shirts. Once I was able to ride more than 10-15 miles, the cotton garments started showing their limitations. I was a little self-conscious about riding around in standard skin-tight riding shorts so I ended up purchasing Pearl Izumi Men's Canyon Short which came with one Pearl Izumi liner. The Canyon Shorts are, how should I say, more socially appropriate to me when I stop off in a gas station to grab some orange juice, or at a diner for lunch.

I ended up buying 4 additional liners (Pearl Izumi Men's Liner Short) as I bike 4-5 days per week. I put a liner on under the shorts and go for my ride. The next day I use a new liner with the same pair of Canyon shorts. Once a week I wash all of the liners and the shorts and I am ready for the next week. The liners are much cheaper than comparable stand-alone riding shorts so I saved a lot of money going this way.

The liners stay firmly in place while I am riding. The Canyon Short rides up my leg slightly over time but it's not a problem as a quick tug, or standing up on the pedals, every hour or so takes care of the problem.

The chamois is comfortable and seems durable so far. I have used some of the liners 5-6 times already and there is no pilling, tearing or other obvious degradation of the material. That being said, it does not feel like you are wearing a diaper, so walking around is not at all uncomfortable.

The liner and shorts are great at wicking moisture. Last week a did a 3 hour ride on a 98 degree day with high humidity. When I was done my skin was almost completely dry and the shorts barely felt damp. Perhaps this is the biggest difference I notice with using the appropriate clothing for riding moisture management makes a big difference over time.

There is a small zipper pocket on the right leg of these shorts but I never use it while riding.

I highly recommend these shorts and liners to anyone looking for a high-quality, inexpensive, option for riding shorts.

I picked up a pair of the Canyon shorts and some additional liners for my 5 mile each way commute to work this summer. They've been outstanding. I have 34~35" waist and the medium size worked for me. The shorts dry quickly and I can swap out clean liners without the need to launder the shorts themselves daily. Just a bit stretchy, not too slippery, and just loose enough, they work well on the bike without turning me into "that spandex guy" when I arrive at the office.

I've gone back to bike riding after stopping for about 20 years. I've moved to a hybrid style bike and didn't want to go the way of the speed racer look. I tried these on at the local sporting goods store and was impressed and ordered them. I went on a 16 mile ride today and I couldn't be more pleased with the shorts. Very comfortable, they end up about 3 inches above my knee when peddling. If you don't know, there is a liner short inside that is fastened to the outer shell with some button straps (like mini suspenders). They work great and move well. My only complaint is that there is only one pocket and they put it at the bottom of the leg. I put my iPhone in there and it hangs under my leg. Didn't bother me much but it felt weird at first. The pad was very comfortable. I'd say they were perfect if it had a higher pocket.
