I'm a novice snowboarder so I was only concerned with how well the padding would absorb impact for my tailbone. I went boarding for the first time in years a couple weeks ago and landed on my tush several times, which left a lingering pain on my tailbone while I walked and when I sat down from the end of the session to a couple days after.
I went snowboarding again this past weekend using the padded shorts. I wore boxers underneath, and a snow bib over it. They fit well under the snow bib, and did not hinder my range of motion.
I had some even worse falls this time around, as I tried my hand with some jumps. With most smaller falls I noticed minimal tailbone pain on impact, and the bigger falls, of course, I felt pain; sometimes quite a bit. However, the most telling result of the product was towards the end of the session to the next day -I had no lingering pain anywhere the shorts were padded.
You can bet I will use these shorts every time! Don't expect this product to completely absorb all impact. It would be naive to think any product on the market (at this price at least) would do so without being overly bulky and uneasy to wear.
