This base layer is very thin. and I was very skeptical that it would keep my core warm in the upcoming NC cold season (being from Canada, I can't bring myself to call it winter here). However, a few weeks ago we had a very cold and windy day but I wanted to go cycling to put it to the test. When I started out, the cold got through but as I warmed up the base layer really kept me warm. During some longer climbs with the wind coming head on I did not even notice a chill. I was roasty warm. I've now looked at other manufacturers and frankly I do not think you can get a better deal. I've got a request in for 4 more for Xmas.

I got these to keep my arms and core a little warmer during my morning commute here in LA. This works very well with a long sleeve jersey and a light outer shell jacket from 40F to 50 F temperature. If I feel a little colder I just put my short sleeve base layer underneath these long sleeves. These feel nice to wear, it has a soft cotton like feeling and breathes really well moving away sweat. I would definitely recommend these part of your winter cycling gear.
