Buy New Balance LC3 Sock

My boyfriend gave me these socks awhile back. I really liked the thickness/quality and arch support and wanted to order more, but I wasn't sure what size to get, so I checked out a couple websites and here's what they recommend:

A website selling exact same (LC3) socks:

Women's / Men's

S: 4-5.5 / --

M: 6-10 / 7.5-9

L: 10-12 / 9-12.5

XL: 13-15 / 12-16

New Balance's website, for similar (low-cut) socks:

Women's / Men's

S: 4-6 / --

M: 6½-10 / 5 8½

L: 10½-13 / 9 12½

XL: -/ 13 16

You can see the sizes are pretty similar, but hopefully having two guides helps if you're borderline. I'm a 9 so I ordered the medium and they fit great.

This is the 2nd set of New Balance socks I have purchased, one set just wasn't enough. Even on my long walk/runs (7 miles or so), my feet stay cool/dry and comfortable. I haven't had any issues with slipping, or bunching and I would definitely buy them again.

For running or athletic socks, you have some trade-offs to consider. I like my socks with a fair amount of cushioning, your feet hurt less after a long run or walk, there's generally more absorbency. There are low-cut socks with more cushioning then the New Balance Performance (LC3), Thorlos Thorlo Unisex Thick Cushion Running Mini-Crew Sock and Cushees Cushees Premium Anklet Socks, Grey Bottom are two, but they tend to make them with acrylic, which runs a little hot. This variant of the New Balance socks is made in polyester (they call it Lightning Dry), definitely runs more cooler, and does dry more quickly. The socks are made for New Balance by Gold Toe, in the USA, seem very well made, and are quite stretchy and stay in place across the arch and hind-foot areas. So this is definitely one of the better low-cut socks on the market today, better then the Nike and Adidas variants, although last year's New Balance might have been slightly better. If you're after a crew (mid-calf length sock), the Head HEAD Men's Power Cushion Crew Sock / Size 9-12 (6 Pair) has cotton, is not quite as cool as the New Balance but is much more absorbent (needed for longer runs or hotter days), is made by Crescent (top-notch USA based outfit), might be the best choice available, but they are not available in the low cut form factor. So for a low-cut sock, the New Balance Performance (LC3) socks run cool and have a reasonable amount of cushioning, are reasonably priced, so are definitely worth considering.
