Anyway, I've always bought Helly clothes, as I grew up on the ocean and this is what Helly does best (good-looking clothes and accessories which do well in wet and windy environments). Searching for a replacement for my beloved Venture, I loved the look of this Dubliner (though I was tempted by its little brother, the Seven). Having worn it for a while, my love has grown cold and I rather long for my Venture. Perhaps the Seven would be better.
It is a nicely-made jacket which will last for years, no doubt about it. It does run small but with a nice slim fit (if you're slim for your size). My major annoyance is that it is not an all-seasons jacket: its lining is more thermal than a thin jacket like the Venture, which is an all-year jacket when used with a zip fleece in colder months. On a warm, humid, rainy day, this Dubliner would be a sauna, as opposed to the light, breathable Venture, and on cold wintry days it is not anywhere thermal enough and, because of its aforementioned slim fit, you cannot have a fleece underneath as you can the Venture. My only other complaints are the lack of an interior pocket, the smallness of the outside pockets, and the highness/stiffness of the collar (giving one the Count Dracula look).
Too bad. Such a nice-looking jacket. I'll keep it, despite its flaws: in moderate temperature, it will be fine.
Note: I just read one reviewer who suggested a thermal base layer to make the jacket cold-worthy. Way too much effort involved. You shouldn't have to tailor the clothes you wear to accomodate a jacket. That's the beauty of the zip fleece: wear what you want and if it's too cold, add the fleece under the jacket; not too cold, wear the jacket alone. Easy. But the Dubliner is cut too slim for that.

I just bought this jacket and let me tell you. It is one of the most well made and good looking Rain/ Wind jackets out there. for the price it is a must buy. The only thing I don't like is that it runs a little small. I got a medium which fits me perfect but little to no grow room on the sleeves. I might return and get the large. Other than that don't think twice about not buying it. for the price point it's very well made and nice. you will love it!Best Deals for Helly Hansen Men's Dubliner Jacket
It's meant to be a slim fit, looks sharp. The color is definitely more "pearly" in person, not just a flat gray color. When the hood is folded in, the collar is pretty bulky, but it still manages to look good. I would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a waterproof jacket that doesn't look like a boring rain jacket.Honest reviews on Helly Hansen Men's Dubliner Jacket
Nice Jacket!Bought this for wear in fall weather conditions in Afghanistan.
Although the contruction and thinkness of the jacket, it can be used for winter conditions too when layering and using this as the outter shell.
Sizes do run a about a size smaller than normal, I usually wear a med, but opted for the large so I could use it for Winter conditions (multiuse).
Helly Hansen products are tough, durable, long-lasting, and with other similar products I have used in the past, the price and awesome quality will keep me as a loyal buyer.

I really like this jacket. It's still fairly lightweight for carrying (19oz, compared to 17oz for the HH Vancouver packable). This one feels a little less like a windbreaker, and more like a full jacket. Less breathable liner, and more solid liner. The hood packs into the collar. And while some may criticize how bulky this makes the collar, this also makes it delightfully warm on a slightly chilly day. Note that the jacket is not insulated, you still need a sweater underneath if temperatures call for it. But the jacket is a tad more substantial than a windbreaker. This is NOT a good jacket for wear in hot and rainy weather, it will get very humid inside very quickly. But for use with or without a an under sweater, this would be great in the Northern US, Ireland, etc.Ultimately, I needed a more breathable jacket for travel in humid conditions and returned it in favor of the HH Seven, but I would recommend this one in a heartbeat for Mid and north US use, along with travel travel to much of northern Europe, the UK, etc, and anywhere else where the average temperature during the rain storm is 75 degrees or less.
